Infested Planets: Endurance Update

So, who asked to be able to interact with Titan Worms? You get your wish (kind of).
From the patch notes:
Missions

• Players can now take on a new combat mission from the Nexus to visit an infested planet and purge it of its infection.
  
• Players visiting infested planets may now occasionally stumble upon the hungering tentacles of the many-mouthed vessel…
  
• Infested planets now have an increased chance of titan worm activity.

Titan Worm Burrows, icons appear visible when flying over them.
Land and get close enough...


The Biological Horrors are spawned by hitting one of the tentacles, not from accidentally hitting an egg (which are also on this planet, along with Frenzied Sentinels). Yeah, I almost lost a 350+ hour Permadeath character when I forgot about the Sentinels and was engaged in my first encounter with them.

They're not that hard to kill though, and you get Sodium and Flesh Rope from them, plus they drop something that I haven't been able to get a shot of yet because this is a really mountainous planet and they roll away too far/fast for me.

I for one wanted Worms that can actually be a danger to the player. Is that what can happen? Wait do you have to be online to do this? It says visit the Nexus, but isn't the Nexus only online? I always play offline.

Guess I'm just gonna have to start my new game and find out.... Hello, 6 hours of crappy tutorial that I can't skip!

this seems like it is simply the worm expedition stuff enabled for normal use... i see that as a GoodThing<tm> pretty much...

Nexus missions you can do when playing offline. Being online is just necessary when wanting to do those missions with other people.
This is true for this exact mission, too.

This was NOT from a Nexus mission.

I am 100% offline non multiplayer. I only just started doing Nexus solo missions this week because I want a living ship and need the quicksilver for the egg. Have never touched expeditions.

This planet was already on my discoveries from yesterday (pre-patch) and I have 1 fauna left to find so I was re-visiting for that (damn you rare underground critters!).

I'd say if you have any infested planet in your past discoveries it will have these, not sure about all other sandworm planets.

but im glad they finally added them to main game
seemed like a waste of effort just to have them in a previous expedition
now we just need to be able to fight the big worm as a boss fight or something

to collect those egg thingys they drop
i cant i dont think they added it outside of the old expedition

Outside of the expedition? No, haven't seen one. I think it's exclusive to Emergence.

That said....

I noticed this feature was back in during SurvivalBob's Twitch stream this morning for drops. At which point a little light went off in my brain and I remembered that 4 was the one past expedition you could never complete on a replay, (because these very Titan Worm Lairs had stopped spawning). So, I replaced my season file with Season 4's and took it for a spin. After 07:30, I can report back that Emergence works now. You can also collect all of the rewards. You just have to remember to take Steam offline, and replace that file with one from the various sources for past expeditions... like the one in the Steam Guide, or from Kuri_Labo's vid link in the comments for that guide. Kuri_Labo gave me a good 91 months to complete... pretty sure anyone can finish an expedition in that. Fun fact: someone moved the worlds with bones on them during one of the updates... you'll want to hit up the Nexus and get the bone hunting mission from there when you hit that milestone. Otherwise, pretty simple to run.

You can get the visceral synthesizer in the expedition. It converts to a normal save right at the end of the expedition with no wait, too. So, it would be possible to collect some of those eggs and give them to a friend once you're no longer playing in offline mode and done with the expedition. I want to say it took me until around the six and a half or seven hour mark to finally pick it up? Worth a shot.

I hope this becomes available somehow, else those rolling "eggs" are useless to new characters or those that were not created during expedition 4. I don't want to use save game editors to add it!

yeah i think thats a bit too much for most
they just need to add it to main game
