Portable refiner... where?

Hey Guys :-)
Just started NMS, so dont really know too much.
So this is probably a real silly question... but where on earth do i find the portable refiner? The beginning has me repairing my ship, but I am missing where it is.... what button do i press to access the menu where it is? I have pressed the "build" button and it brings up 3 tabs for suit, tool and ship... but nowhere in there is anything like a portable refiner. And if i go into any of the empty slots, i do not get an option to build one. So i imagine it must be on a screen somewhere that i am missing lol. So is there a separate screen for deployable tools? If not, where do i find the portable refiner?
(of course, am using latest version of the game, if that helps lol)

Press the build key (Z), this pulls up every available blueprint you can build. What you called the build button is really the Inventory button.

But then again, what screen have i been viewing then? It has those 3 tabs...

Ohhhhhhhh hang on. I must have been looking at the inventory screen (the above mentioned 3 tabs), but there is a separate build screen.... yay!

Now just to find how to switch between 1st person and 3rd person... hehe.

X, go to "Utilities" (looks like a gear). Should be there.

Pro-tip: You can bind anything in the quick menu (X) to a numpad key by highlighting it and pressing Ctrl+[0-9]. Then you just press the corresponding numpad key when you want to activate that option.

Thanks again for the direction....
At this rate, i may even get my craft working and take off...but i wont get ahead of myself. Figuring out the keys/menu etc, was tricky enough haha.
