Unfortunately, for those who wanted, and thought they had, a black freighter, it may cost n5000 to slap on a new coat of paint.
Sounds like this is the reason, thanks. I've never recoloured the one I mentioned and sounds like the same for OP before the update changed it.
I had a freighter which had a colour change on the hangar part of the freighter which is not affected by the customisation (because it is tied to the RNG seed),. resulting in a very obvious mismatch with my chosen colour scheme now.
What is the pointy of supposedly having to hunt down the perfect ship/freighter only to get screwed over every time the game updates?
Should Hello Games is even registering any of this: Just enable full customisation of all parts and colours and stop wasting our time please.
Turns out this is this case. I hadn't had a chance to notice it due to testing other things. But this is a good change, as freighters can now properly be recolored without having to skip the majority of freighters because of them not being able to be customized. But as you said, it leaves those that wanted a "black" freighter stuck with dark gray.
This is actually a bug that didn't get fixed in the latest push to live. I posted about it multiple times in the Experimental Branch thread, but apparently they wanted to get the major stuff pushed to live first.
Those who are experiencing color changes are mostly those with "black" freighters who now have proper color application and are seeing the intended colors. That said, if the colors are different from how they originally were (not black), try verifying your files just to be sure there's not some bad files left over after the patch (seems to be fairly common).
