Get to center of ANY galaxy (without cheating)
Here's how you can quickly get to the center of any galaxy (and thus jump to the next galaxy) without mods or cheats. Because you're jumping normally, your ship, suit, and exotool WILL be damaged once the jump is complete, so prepare for that.

There were some instructions online from a while back that spelled this out, but those appear to be obsolete now. The actual method is a little easier.

(1) Buy planetary charts from a space station, the type for Alien Artifacts. Grab 5-10 just in case. Also buy a vykeen dagger, gek relic AND Korvax casing.

(2) Go to any planet, use one of the charts to find a Monolith. It may take a few tries.

(3) Go go to the Monolith and solve the puzzle.

(4) Enter the Monolith again and request the location of Portal. You'll have to pay with the vykeen dagger, gek relic or Korvax casing.

(5) Go to portal, activate all glyphs. You'll have to spend carbon, etc., to do this.

(6) Once all the glyphs are available, re-enter the portal and enter coordinates: all SUNSETS (these are zeroes).

(7) Jump through the portal. This will land you on a system within ~5 LY from the galactic center. I usually make a quick base here, but it's not necessary.

(8) Lift off from the planet and go to the galactic map. Select the map path to the galactic center (press right arrow key), and then make a few jumps to get closer to the galactic core. Should take about 4-5 additional jumps. Just keep following the galactic core path until it ends.

(9) At the final one, you will only see one line, towards the center. Make sure your hyperdrive is 100% fueled. I believe you MUST have Indium drive installed.

(10) Selecting the last jump is always tricky on PC. Hold down the left mouse button to see the yellow indicator near the path line. Move your mouse until the yellow indicator crosses the path line, and a white ring icon fills. That will trigger the jump.

(11) Go through jump animation - it's long. You'll zoom out of the old galaxy, then see the camera pan a little, and then zoom into the new one.

(12) Congrats! You've jumped to the next galaxy. You'll materialize on a random planet, on foot. Summon your ship. Everything will be damaged: your ship, your suit and your tool. Enter ship and exit ship to create a save point.

Spend the next 100 hours repairing everything LOL... but you made it!

(1) use exocraft not charts
(2b) drop a savepoint
(9b) turn your volume up :)

Get a cheap ship and put the thruster, launcher, hyperdive and cannon in the equipment bay. All you need is a ship with a fully charged hyperdive to make it to the center. This will keep your main ship from damage.

I thought you were going to propose making all the jumps manually :steamhappy:

the only details missing are those for actually finding a Monolith... i like to call it "Krash's Method of Finding Things Via Charts in NMS"... i think Krash was the first one i read saying to spam charts until the result you want appears?

Isn't that a cheat?.... Of course not, it's in the game... But where did you get this info?... On the internet.... So it's a cheat when I look for something on the internet, but it's not when you do it? Oh! I get it, it's not a cheat when you say it's not, right?

Living ships don't get damaged when using wormholes; does that mean you could jump galaxies without damage, too?

Its a cheat when you make something possible via ways that normally are not available, by entering an actual cheat, or by using programs to cheat.
I don't think this would count as a cheat, as it is fully using ingame mechanics, looking something up on the internet would merely by a way to "guide" you imo.

A cheat is something that is not possible ingame and become possible with a T-Prog or files configuration changes . Ex : Noclip mod.
A bug exploit is something possible ingame but not intended by dev (bug). Ex : Duplicate item.

This strat is neither a cheat nor an exploit. It's not because you make your own definition of what is a cheat that become one. Just learn before, then talk. Looking this strat on the internet is : a spoil.

Another spoil tech that can be abusive for new players . How to go on blue star systems without indium drive with your ship ? Unlock Nada anomaly ; do missions : get lucky. :D

So, basically, we're all cheaters.
We're flying through space and visiting other planets - via normal ways not possible, so we invented methods to cheat into pretending we would do this (and then even argue about what ships or planets are the best - as if they would really exist and if they would be important at all).
We're all dirty cheaters.
And we enjoy it.
Case closed.

FYI: Only the Vy’keen dagger needs to be purchased. When you answer the Monolith correctly on both Gek & Korvax systems, you are awarded with the item to unlock the portal.

with this knowledge it looks like it's possible to speedrun all the galaxies

It is.
There is a second method that doesn't need glyphs (at least not for further galaxies other than the first one) but instead relies on black holes. This second method is arguably even more fast.

It gets even better: if you take a blackhole before the final jump, you'll end up within 4,000 ly of the core of the next galaxy, saving you the time of looking for monoliths and portals on the next run.
