Portal warp taking over half an hour?
I used a teleporter to teleport to a mold farm for nanites but I've been stuck in the warp animation over 30 minutes.
How long can a teleporter take?
I assume the farther the distance the longer the warp animation but if that's the case how long could a warp potentially take?

If not for the animation I would have assumed my game crashed.

Distance has nothing to do with the teleporting time. It probably got bugged.

Ok thanks.
I was thinking it might be Taking me to the next galaxy and that's why it was Taking so long.
It probably just bugged out like you say.
I'll close the game and relaunch.
Thanks.

That's definitely a bug. It is literally a loading animation, so as long as the scene finishes loading, you'll be there. Jumping from freighter to a station within the same system is very quick, for example, because it does not need to load as much.

The teleport screen is essentially just something to watch while the game loads the next area. It should normally be something less then a minute in my experience. Often just a few seconds now that they improved how the game stores prior locations for quick transitions.

The initial star field scene when you open the game can take several minutes depending if a large update has been issued and needs to update and how fast your rig is.

Verify game files would be my first step if that happened.

Only had this happen twice in around 2 years... I always save before using a teleporter ever since. Hasn't happened for a long time but better safe than sorry.

Happened to me multiple times trying to use portal to go to player mold and processing base.

Initially I tried to run this of a harddrive and that took lot of time to load anything, around 10 minutes to start it. Move the game to SSD, Steam allows for that, fixed that part.
But if you throw low ram into that mix, it will probably slow to a crawl.

Not normal at all. If you jump within a given system, it will be super fast (15 seconds). Otherwise, jumps take about 1 minute (60 seconds). Anything more than that is a bug.

Curiosity based relevant question, what happens if the receiving base computer or portal are walled in or buried? I'm aware that the game will try to put you in a clear area, rather than in a wall.

Agree, definitely not normal; sounds like a bug/glitch.

i call it the acid trip loop, just ALT TAB, close game and reload. and its not the distance but the amount of objects the base your going to has to render in that makes it long or short.

30 secs is a long portal time.
Why did you wait 30 minutes. :steambored:

While I waited I did other things.

Ok thanks some others made similar points that it's the loading time so a large base with a lot going on will take longer than a virtually empty base with just a portal.
