I mean...it takes some time, to build a building. What did you do meanwhile? Being afk? Then the simple solution would be: Don't go afk while doing such missions. Just do them, be on the move and no one will be able to put walls around you.
Somehow this made me laugh hard.
I imagine the other players asking you in a hoarse voice to free them, because they are trapped inside of this base for two days already. :D
It's a bummer for you, I know, but this picture somehow is hilarious.
As for why this happens - good question. Maybe a sync error. At the moment the ODS has problems which can result in some strange results. Maybe this is one.
Or some people actually did discover a new way of hacking as not being able to report a base sounds fairly familiar in regards to the expedition rendezvous points.
As you can't do this mission anymore (which is a bug on HG's end), there is nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. If you could this mission again (and it wouldn't bug out), you could do it at a later time as this usually ends in pointing you to a new spot, based upon real time and other player instances.
You could try it after logging out and restarting the game again.
And disabling multiplayer - this would be my advice for doing Nexus missions at all. Especially weekend missions.
1: A weekend event
2: Multiplayer enabled
The way NMS processes information is like batched or queued. So you can def land on a planet & within a few seconds (10-15] have a fully formed base around you that was not there when you landed.
Now I don’t know if it’s due to a slow cpu, internet, geographic location, etc. But it def happens.
It is also super easy to fix, simply activate your quick menu & go past photomode to report base. If there’s a base, you will always have this option.
I can't really imagine the surroundings, but if you are still in contact with the planetary ground, that at least one Gek gets through, try to use the terrain manipulator to create an escape tunnel
What a crap. Multiplayer really spoils the character...
The base is somehow "teleported" in when you access the terminal to decorrupt the communication device. I was lucky that I had parked my ship next to the terminal because you can hardly find it in between all those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ message balls that everyone seem to plop down everywhere and that I still have to see even with multi-player disabled. (Hello HELLO GAMES could you fix that please)
I could enter my ship and just flew away, but as said, I was lucky. ;-)
OFFLINE play seems more and more the way to go. Hello games are trolling / griefers themselves at this point.
HG def changed how the game generates terrain & bases at a mission POI. So they prevent the base from initially blocking you but once the mission flag is set to return to the stranded pilot, the area is “unlocked” and all buildings are generated
Get RID OF MULTIPLAYER ALTOGETHER HG!!!
