How? Save Editor?
I can't use the save editor, but I use something better imo..
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1879
In the beginning the guy made it just for backing up companions, but it's gone so far beyond that now.. You can backup and restore almost everything now..
Companions, ships, frigates, freighters, bases and more.... It's not a mod it's an app/programe he wrote himself..
On my current save, i mainly use a fighter that i like the slim design of, which has mostly most combat upgrades in, a hauler filled with common materials so that i can easily set up a base (can just summon it to land where i am) and an explorer mainly used for jumping solar systems, as it has the longest reach.
i currently have several other slots filled with expedition reward ships, to use as extra storage, since i'm still hunting for a freighter
For most other things I use my B class fighter.
I don't want to use a save editor cuz it's too powerful and too tempting to just get everything in the game and will likely spoil the game for me. However, NMS Companion has extended my gameplay because I can finally focus on collecting ships, faunas, etc instead of worrying about which ones to keep.
That's true, it gives you a lot more freedom. In the beginning it was called "NMS Companions", as it was only for backing up and restoring companions, but after he added ships and multi-tools it became "NMS Collections".
Since then he has added so much more. Before this app when we only had 6 ships max, I always used the same 6 ships on my saves, if I could find them again, but now I have a big collection and use whatever I want when I want. It's a great programme...
Normally you can walk/tunnel yourself out, find a clear spot and summon your ship. That won't work if it has empty launch thrusters.
So - in that very rare eventuality, get yourself out, summon your backup ship and you are golden.
There are other ways out but they are a LOT more painful. Like reload a manual save where you weren't wedged in a mountain. Buy a ship from a grounded smuggler, create a base +base teleporter, TP to a station, buy a ship, summon the Anomaly swap ships there. All very annoying in comparison.
Once you have a ship that is S class 48/21 you can have it all in one ship. No need for specialized ships.
It's funny that inventory space is the main reason different ships costs different amounts of units when inventory space doesn't really matter once you have all the storage on the Capital Ship, can just use Explorers, Solars or Fighters constantly as you can just teleport anything ya need to straight to your capital ship and all the storage containers.
While the extra inventory space is nice, it's no longer necessary with the new capital ship storage. Definitely not worth driving around in the dumptrucks that are Haulers.
Golden Vector - It's handy to have a fighter around.
2 squid exotics - Kept around after finding them due to their rarity.
2 royal exotics - I like the look of the royal & they handle well.
1 solar - The first solar I found after the Outlaws update. I may get rid of it for a better looking one at some point.
1 living ship - Got it to try out, didn't care for it, went back to it after the most recent update to see how things have improved. I like it better now & will work on upgrading further, but it's not likely to become my main starship.
I keep the remaining two starship slots open for salvage, but I'm toying with the idea of getting a hauler if I ever see one I like the look of.
Of these, I mainly use the royals, but I may switch to the solar if I'm pulsing around exploring a system.
