Too bad that this whole side of the game has been ruined for all these years.
i know of one glitch method where you can/could/used to place two refiners on top of each other... not stacked but like in the same physical space... when you add stuff to one refiner and start it, it majikally appears in the other refiner...
I'd laugh if you were not entirely correct. No Man's Sky is and has always been a horrendously buggy experience. You will experience bugs doing anything and everything, the only question is how often and how bad. And yeah, it can get bad.
How is that not fixed? what a major bug.
Наличие обходного пути -- это не исправление ошибки. У No Man's Sky, похоже, не зрелая команда, для которой веселее клепать новые ошибки. Искать и исправлять существующие -- это конечно гораздо скучнее.

i do also know about the glitch one where you could place refiners in the same physical space and dupe stuff but that's not part of this discussion...
4h+ work, not mentioning resources, just gone.
I'm done with this broken game.
Let me guess, you use Steam Cloud Sync.
I would advise against explaining cheats. Steam sometimes imposes stricter rules than the game teams themselves... and you could get penalized for it.
I find that as long as you don't change Systems at all, including entering the Anomaly, which is technically inits own system..... sort of...
Refiners use shortcuts that they haven't coded very well.
Eg. When you're refining, it's doing a 1 at a time conversion when you can observe the % on the refiner.
The moment you move away so you can't see that, it switches to a timer set to the time to complete refining what's in it now.
So if completion is going to be 5 minutes, it sets the sound of refining to play for 5 minutes.
If you come back before the end, it does the math to see how much would have completed, and sets the numbers to that when you look.
Otherwise, it waits the time allotted and then alters the numbers to that.
But due to poor coding, the identity of the refiners can get mixed up... so that another person's refiners and yours transpose.
You might find yours empty... or you put in some carbon to condense, and find 3000 nannites refined.
Because you're getting someone else's refinery and they got yours.
Sometimes it only does half that, and you get access to theirs, but it doesn't change their values, so you pull the materials out, close it, and then when you open it again, the materials are still there.
And they can get Your refinery the same way.
That people typically leave them empty is why they seem to Empty themselves so often.
And the occasional time you can open an Empty refinery and find something to take out... is why they seem to empty themselves.
It should be fixed, long since, because it wouldn't be complex. They just need to add a validation of the id of the refiner each time it is accessed.
That would, of course, end the ability to dupe that people use them for, but it would mean we could load them up to refine large quantities and come back later to collect them.l;
