Sand worm pets and how to obtain them.

Hi everyone, im kinda new in NMS and saw in a couple of worlds a damn huge worm passing by, is there any way to get one of those as pets? Ive read a bit here and there that they are some kind of reward for a game mode that im not really familiarized with but i think it expired already. Can this still be redeemed or obtained through other means? (preferibly not save editing), also is there a way to make them as big as those in the worlds?(read smt about giving platinum idk where or to what but i think in the anomaly egg machine) or at least big enough to impress XD?

You can't do anything with the giant ones that pop in and out of the world on some planets.

There was a cross save egg reward for a "worm" companion. Never tried to max mine, but they are fun for about 10 minutes....like all the companions. It was a little more interesting to fly.

The egg was an expedition reward. Since the worm itself lays eggs (like every companion) you can get an egg gifted to you. I'm not sure how big you can make them via the egg sequenzer, but definitely not as big as the planetary worms.

just found out this clip and it looks GREAT on that size, maybe a bit bigger of what i wanted but still nice, tho im not really sure how she did it but i think i can play with the device once i get one.
