Everything is procedural, so every galaxy is made of the same finite number of assets you have in the game, so you will see again the same combinations of parts for ships, animals and plants, no matter how many galaxies you visit.
The biggest limitation of the game is that you can generate procedurally a galaxy, but if you have 300 parts to create ships, eventually no matter what, you will end up with a similar design at one point. This of course apply for everything in the game; the only thing that will mostly "different" is the terrain; although even with that there is only so many planets with the same grass and rocks artifacts on it that look unique; before you start to see the patterns there.
I would say don't bother to focus on other galaxies; you have so much to visit in the initial galaxy that makes everything else pretty redundant. Some people never leave a system; just to tell you how much you can do depending on how you want to play the game.
nya ok, luckily, i have a base in euclid so, i was able to jump back. tho i found for some reason my first settlement in the hilbert dimension which (iunno if that is important or not) has an A rank so i was like oh wao A rank? it can only get 1 rank better.
so yea thats my reason to traverse between euclid and hilbert now x3.
but thanks for the explanation nome =3
Eissentam is the 10th galaxy.
The last one (255th galaxy) is Iousongola.
And no, there is no point in visiting any new galaxies. Exception: You want to do it - that is all the reason it will need.
To give a short breakdown:
There are lush galaxies - they will have more player friendly environments and will provide you with a constant stream of paradise planets.
There are harsh galaxies - well, the complete opposite to lush ones, as you would've guessed already.
There are normal galaxies - these are mixed ones.
There are empty/ancestral galaxies - which aren't empty but will provide more anomaly-planets.
If you want to be more alone out there or if you're just interested in what you might find out there or if you just want to go exploring - then go and change galaxies.
If you're not interested in jumping to other galaxies, then don't do it.
That said, some of the less hostile ones have surprisingly beautiful planet so it's worth looking around.
there are 4 types of galaxies. Most are normal but some area also empty, harsh and lush, they have different probabilites of different planet types, so not essential but easier if you like certain planet types. Its true though that there's nothing _unique_ in other galaxies.
Also, if you want to use online glyphs, you need a base near a portal in a galaxy so you can use the glyphs of that galaxy.
... in fact there are 257 galaxies and the last one is Yilsrussimil.
And neither Odyalutai nor Yilsrussimil do matter which renders the number back to 255.
aaand here comes the edit:

i quote the wiki entry
with this exists effectivly only 255 galaxies as of now. maybe they will do something with those removed ones and planning something who knows, by the way.

Reachable they are but not through normal gameplay.
And that's why I wrote:
