How to find a Curious Deposit?
For nanite farm

If you wanted to do that, you'd just need to get some drop pod coordinates to use. Upgrade the old backpack, scan for deposits. I wouldn't bother hopping up a hill, though - just use your scanner.

Fly slowly. A minimally spec'd hauler is good for this. Look for a yellow triangle with white stars.

Comment: Don't bother explicitly searching for them, just fly around slowly when you land on a new world. They can be hard to find, then you'll find lots and lots.

A curious deposit/nanite farm sounds like a good idea, but it is a bit of a game spoiler. You get your activated Indium farm and Curious deposits, then soon after, you'll be running out of things to do because there's little purpose when you can buy everything you need. What will you do when you have all the ships and weapons?

If you really want to go ahead with it, I've had good success on planets with star brambles. Mysteriously, the CDs often seem to be close to drop pods,, so buy a load of drop-pod coordinates from a minor settlement and set them off with the signal booster. When you get there, upgrade your back-pack, then jump up the nearest hill and scan the surrounding area. Anecdotally, about one in six had CD's nearby. That has been repeated three planets, but could be just coincidence.

On a planet with a good climate (star brambles), you can just go walkabout. Choose a direction and just keep going, while picking up salvaged data, investigating buildings and having a good scan around each time you stop. Sooner or later, you will find CDs and you'd be surprised what else you find.

One time, while on such a walkabout, I met a lone NPC in the middle of nowhere that told me that he wanted to top himself. I thought I might be able to help, but he told me to leave him in peace. Later, in the same trip, I met a lone Vy'keen who said he was looking for a mate and did I know of anyone who might be up for it. Naturally, I ran away as fast as I could.

They can be on any planet type. Some planets will have a lot some few to none, it's very random.

I find them by accident while doing other things. There is no particular good way to specifically search for them.

It's all luck. I only seen them after
400+ hours and I wasn't even looking. By then I've found more fun ways to get nanites like shooting sentinels.

Anyways I have found 6 deposits through 3 planets and none are anywhere near a droppod. Good luck though.

Look in the list of other people's bases in the transporter. Other people have already built nanite farms so you can go and harvest them.

I have a number of "refinery" bases set up with just a building and the 4 refineries (3x Medium + 1 Large). They are each set up next to Curious Deposits and constantly make me nanites, but not at a ridiculous rate. Last game took me several game sessions to get 3 million nanites with 3 such sites. If you don't overdo it, it doesn't feel too bad.

Someone asked once you have your stuff upgraded what else is there to do.
Seriously? You think upgrading kit is all there is to do in this game? That's sad.

Anyway, I found 90% of them on lush planets - many of them were not far from each other (I found 6 groups of Curious Deposits within 1200u of each other on one planet, and built a couple of bases and short range teleporters between them - spent a silly amount of time refilling refiners!).

Yes. I have alrady nearly everything. Its easy to find another players base and farm, but its not fun. I want to find myself. I found perfect planet for CD spawn but however only Metal Fingers (3 star rare thing) are spawned there:steamfacepalm: You lucky!

One game, I've got 3 nanite farms within teleporter distance of each other. By the time I've harvested all 3, the first one has regenerated. So I can just do an infinite loop with refiners running as I do it. To me, it's real game spoiler. Should take at least a day to regenerate after being harvested. Once you've got infinite nannites and infinite money, what's the point?

I always do my searching after several beers by the campfire (rl). I think it works so well, because I don't really care at that point if I find them. I used to look really hard (no beers or campfire) and never could find them. Once I implemented my new plan, I had no problems.
