I ask because there are two build limits: 3k parts per base and 16k in total for your save.
Which means that your impression of being on the low side of things in regards to freighters could be a coincidence upon arriving 16k parts in total for all your bases combined.
If it's not an old save...well...than it would be intersting to know how many parts you actually did use on your freighter.
Based on @SaD-82 comment of 3k per and 16k in total, a fully built-out base would be 3k, so at most you could have what, 5.x fully built out bases in total? I've a lot of bases to be sure, but none have ever max'd out...
What I did in the freighter was build out sections, like 11 x 6 for plants, 2 rows of 5 deep on the space collectors, 10 storage containers, all the NPC workstations and 6 command centers for freighter missions. I put up all my posters and that's about it. I'm thinking something is up with how they count items on the freighter, because surely that limited amount of stuff ought not exceed 3k.
Since all storage containers are probably over 90% full, I suppose those inventories add up as well, yes?
So I guess the question I have is - do they count each item in storage against the 16k total? If you have one item with a quanty of 50, hopefully the item count is only affected by 1, not 50, right?
Now more than ever I wish they'd add some sorts and filters for all our bases, so we could order and filter them, for the purpose to free up some space.
I have not use the goat fungus editor... going to have to look into it. Thanks folks!!!
Also you get rewards for finishing expedition. Don't even bother to collect the rewards.
I'd like them to up the limit or remove it completely... I could see possibly limiting the number of bases, but allowing us to go nuts within the base itself.
Thanks for the help in figuring this out.
But it make no sense because even with the same local file based system they could have a seperate file for each base and just call those, which would be more efficient anyway. So I dont know. I guess they figure that once you have 16k parts they already have your money anyway so why should they care :/
My other assumption is that this is a 2016 game designed for the pre/early SSD era of low read-write speeds and they havent updated that mechanic.
