New to game, How to increase inventory?
So I'm new to the game and struggling to find where I can get upgrades to increase inventory. A guide said you can get in the anomaly but I cant find where. The exosuit upgrade researcher doesnt have them? What am I missing? Thanks!

do you mean in your suit? there's a upgrade machine to the right of the exosuit guy in the anomaly where you can add one slot...
you can also visit the space station and there's a similar machine to the left of the exosuit guy there...
on planet, you can find drop pods which will also let you get one slot https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Drop_Pod

There's a place on the space stations you visit to purchase one Exosuit Inventory Upgrade per station. The cost will increase, iirc, by 10,000 units for every slot you buy. It's on the left side of the stations, on the far left, near the appearance modifier and ship salvage, just to the right. It's easy to miss, I didn't realize it was there until... too long.

And if you enter a new system and get an upgrade from the space station, note that you can then call the anomaly and get another one there in each system. So, that's two slots per system with no effort (just cash).

There are 4 broad inventory areas: your suit, your ship, base storage, and your freighter.

There’s a machine next to the Exosuit mod merchant that lets you upgrade your suit inventory. This is the most important early on. There’s a second one on the Anomaly next to suit research. They’re both one use per star system.

You get your first base storage item early. If you follow the main quest, that unlocks the other 9 base storage items after a bit of work.

Ship inventory is mostly upgraded by buying bigger ships. There are mods that increase ship inventory, but they’re uncommon until you start buying and scrapping ships for parts, which cost millions of units. You can buy ship inventory increases, but it’s silly expensive.

Freighter inventory is like ship inventory. You mostly buy bigger freighters, but there are inventory upgrade items that drop rarely. There are Derelict Freighter missions that consistently give you 1 inventory upgrade, but the admission fee is 5 million units per run.

Would recommend buying general slot at space station each time you get to new one there will be options to buy a slot, then find drop pods to install for stuff like cargo and Tech, since cargo is usually most expensive slot to buy, it makes sense to use drop pod for those since it will essentially save you lots of money, given price for buying slot at space stations are going to increase.

You can also on occasions find drop pod cordinates for a price at technology vendors sometimes at -30% discounted price if lucky and you don't want to try your lock finding the drop pods through exploration.

If you do the base expanding quest line, then do the mech quest line from the overseer you will be rewarded with some wheeled exomechs. The mech quest line will also reward you with 3 scanner techs to install in the wheeled mechs. You can use one of these mechs (with scanner installed) to find drop pods. Need 1 carbon nanotube, 1 antimater housing, and some sodium ( I think, might be sodium nitrate). Each drop pod will give you 1 suit inventory upgrade. You can also buy the first mech in the Anomoly with salvaged data, and get the 3 scanners from the exomech guy for nanites.

You find drop pods on whatever planet you're on. I'm sure the game will end up directing you to them sooner or later. And they agonisingly add slots one at a time.

Or you could just do the smart thing and use a save editor to add them all at once. If there is one thing I absolutely DO NOT have the time nor patience for in this game, it is pratting about with inventory expansion. So many damned inventories to expand, and so many items that are needed for all sorts of stuff. Even with a full 42 general, tech and cargo slots on the Exosuit, it is still entirely too easy to run out of space. Like maddeningly so. Screw that noise. The game takes up enough time without inventory space bothers.

Ship: save up for a big hauler from a space station, then you can buy slots there too.

Suit: buy nav charts for droppods. Better- every new station you go to gives away a free suit slot.

Multitool: get a better tool (spacestations)

The exocraft scanners are the win. Land on a planet without aggressive sentinels, summon an exocraft (either via the freighter summoner or create a local summoning station). Scan, fly to drop pod, scan, fly to the next drop pod, scan. You can do that 3-4 times before you start getting repeats. When that happens fly some distance away, repeat.

I usually combine that with grabbing any salvage modules that are sitting around. You can fully kit out your exosuit with minimal cost other than time that way and without having to leave that one planet.

Rather than concentrate on your backpack inventory, you can get all you need by getting a freighter, which is much quicker and gives you a lot more.

As soon as you get your ship, you can do 5 jumps. On the 5th jump, you will arrive at a freighter being attacked by pirates. After you shoot the pirates, which is very easy, you get invited on to the freighter and the captain will give it to you free of charge.

The freighter comes with ten storage rooms, which you can install with magnetised ferrite and sodium. That will give you 200 storage slots.

Next, go to a pirate system and shoot all the cargo pods on any freighters there. The freighters have turrets to defend themselves, so shoot them as soon as they shoot you, then learn where they are so you can shoot them first. Some of the pods have frigate modules, which you need to install the matter beam on the freighter. You will also get loads of contraband, magnetised ferrite, chromatic metal and things like that, plus Uranium for ship launch fuel. Sell the contraband in any non-pirate system to get megabucks. To get more freighters to shoot, fly to the planet, shoot up the ones there, then back to the station and shoot up those, then back to the planet, and repeat until your inventory is full.

install the matter beam, then whenever you want to use the 200 inventory slots, you can summon the freighter ti wherever you are. If you're on the ground, you can summon it to the sky above you.. Those 200 slots wil appear in your inventory plus however many normal freighter inventory and cargo slots to use like normal, so about 230 slots in total.

That hasn't worked for years, since they removed the bypass chip from the game.

Yes sorry you're right, but units are basically easy to get so it's kinda free (not like nanites, data, quicksilver). But yes you're right.
