Planet descriptions not loading
Like 90% of the time I can never get it to pull up a planet's description to see what's on it and what type of planet it is. Is there a way to fix this because it's really annoying.

It depends on the circumstances you are trying from. Can you give a bit more detail as to how you are trying to get the info?

By hovering over the planet with my cursor while flying. Can't learn the planet and look in my codex thing if I can't even scan it.

The space scan is pretty fundamental and basically temporary to your current space travel, even after you have landed and added to your discoveries list. The discovery listing is the only record that has more details.

Be aware that you have to put boots on the ground to add a planet to your discovery list. Just scanning it in space does little other than give you the name and some bare minimums about the planet. In MP, it will tell you a tiny bit more if some other interloper already discovered it and/or placed a base there.

So your ship scanner isn't working? Have you checked your in game controller settings to see if that has been changed? If it hasn't then maybe just a save and a reload will make it work again.

If multiplayer is enabled then maybe try disabling it to see if that helps.

Try switching to cockpit view while doing your scanning. Sometimes you just can't get the info box to pop up while in 3rd person.

FWIW: i always use 1st person view in the ship specifically because of the lack of information you get with 3rd person view... the only time i might go to 3rd person in the ship is for photo ops...

also, when scanning the planets from space, try to aim close to the center of the planet when you scan it... i've found that to be the best as aiming at the outer 1/3rd is a c4rp shoot...

well same issue with 3rd person view from the ship - switching to first person view inside the cockpit solved the issue, planets are easily identified and fast. As it should be form the 3rd person view as well. Which is much better in terms of visibility around the ship, thus used by me all of the time.

Since I posted in this thread I've learned that different ship types have a slightly different angle on the camera while in 3rd person view. Fighters are close to center screen, Haulers are slightly lower and shuttles almost touch the bottom of the screen.... this is throwing things off. Line your ship up with the planet in the reticle. Press alt and move the view down slightly so you're looking directly at the back of your ship and usually you can get the planets info box to pop up.

It's less of an issue once you figure out what's going on. Forget the cross-hairs for a moment and look at your (main) monitor. Locate its centre; line your planet up with that instead.

1st Person 3rd Person C A-------B---+---C-------D A-----------+-----------D B* Z-axis >> A = camera B = cockpit B*= ship C = cross-hairs D = planet
