Some items do not work in some structures.
1. Build them in a room that is powered. These include the cuboid rooms as well as the larger round and square rooms, but does NOT include rooms made of wall/floor/ceiling pieces of wood/alloy/stone.
2. Put a wall light on the wall immediately behind where the health station is. This powers the health station on the other side of the wall. This is basically a workaround that allows you to put them on wood/alloy/stone walls and still have them function.
For the hazard protection unit, it doesn't need power, you just need to have ferrite dust in your inventory. IIRC, it takes 10 to use it.
I don't like building the prefab rooms very much so use alloy, stone and timber for most of my bases. The wall light trick always works for the Health units, but it can take some finangling to get it lined up right.
i've also placed the other unit right up beside the pill light on the other side to balance the look on the wall... yes, i still had to feed it a mineral for it to work...
That's how I do it as well. Never thought to put the light on the opposite side of the wall, but it makes sense. The power connectors emit a small bubble that will power other stuff that touches it.
