"a Trace of metal" issue ?? cant get undamaged drone shell

For hours and hours,, i've been collecting combat suplies.. no undamaged drone shell,, been shooting combat supplies... been warping out off systems ,, been trying to make new settlement,, i've been trying anything and everything,, the sentinells just keeps on returning... like a loop is going on... SOME ONE PLS DO SOMETHING,,...

Dont shoot the drops. Get close and use (E) to pick them up. That's how you get the shell.

Wait, normally (outside of the Trace of Metal quest) you can SHOOT them to get the stuff they contain??

Yes. And you can shoot these drops, but you get different stuff by picking it up. And this stuff is critical to complete the mission.

Yah, I just actually completed that step of that mission in my expedition 7 game.
I just never knew you could normally shoot them. I waste so much time running and picking them up while fighting sentinels.

Do they restore shields when you shoot them, like they do when you pick them up? Because that's why I pick them up, during battle.

I don't know actually. Since ToM I'm in the habit of picking up the combat drops; I haven't tested what happens by just shooting them.
