long trade missions can go awry too. my fleet got damaged once after picking up some rare animals which broke free on board and demolished most of the interior. 4 crew members lost yheir lives too...
i felt sorry for them and decided to recall them for repairs and some shrink talk.
but you could turn a deaf ear instead ;)

The more missions you send the ship on the less issues it will have in the nagative.
Rule number 1 with Frigates. Don't obsess. Just use them and wait for the inevitable S class upgrade.
There I go buying them as S class right off the bat.
