Save file modification is the same than 'JSON raw file' edition with NMS Save Editor. The editor presents to you the savegame in its original JSON format where you have access to everything in it. Once done, the editor converts again into final format (which is not editable).
Chose 'JSON raw file' once you have launched and loaded your save in the editor, and find the necessary entries to modify. I don't know which entries govern the game mode, so I cannot tell you.
But ask this question to the author of the editor here:
https://nomansskymods.com/mods/no-mans-sky-save-editor/
You may need to register to be able to post there, but Goat Fungus the author or some experts there are usually very responsive.
please read my last post again, I was not yet finished :)
NO, not possible to do by normal means.
Minecraft allowed you to do this. I was wondering if NMS is also possible.
