Just for curiosity - How rare are crashed exotics?
Its the first time I ever found one, I am quite surprised. Are crashed ships 'fixed' in that system? (Like, this system will always have this crashed exotic?)

At space stations and landing pads a give ship spawn has 0.3% chance of being an exotic (so I am told, my not sure of the original source). I don't know the odds of a crash site being an exotic, but it is probably about the same.

I spent a lot of time searching for sunken ships, only found 2 exotics in weeks of searching. Crashed ships are selected from the pool of existing ships of that system.

You are way better off going to a rich system ( as in , booming, opulent, wealthy, ect ect ) and playing the waiting game if you looking for an exotic. Trade post spawn quicker than a space station, IMHO.

Thanks for the answers. I am used to buy Exotics, the surprise was by finding a crashed one by the first time. So If i put Lindy and Krash replies together, it means crashed sites are fixed, though the ship itself wont be... which... wait... so... any other player that goes to that crashed site it means he will find a random ship taken from the pool and not the exotic ... is that it? Or is the exotic also fixed in that specific location/crash site?

I believe that if you find a specific ship at a crash site and mark it for others, they will find that same ship as well. Or so, I have experienced. You could try looking on line for specific crashed exotics and hope that it is marked when you show up there. Otherwise, the crashed ships via maps are a roll of the dice.

Anyone can go here and find this same exotic:

theres 1 exotic-ship-design in each system. it takes a lot of time to search for an exotic in a ship crash, but some locations are static.
i.e. the exotic appears again and again at this point (search for such places on websites or on YT). for example: i got my white-tiger-squid from a static-location. (and ofc he dont spawn again after you take em away)

if you are just looking for an exotic you could check my screenshots (they are young in date)
and/or you could check https://nmsce.com/ in general

Every inhabited system has an exotic. It makes little difference if the system is 1 star or 3 star economy. Based on my observations, you are just as likely to have wait for a while in rich system as you are in poor system. What is more important to me when looking is the combat level. With a one star combat level, the chances of finding an exotic before the stupid pirates mount a ground attack are pretty good whereas in a 3 star combat system the trade post will come under attack every 5 min. 35 sec. after you land, and will continue to do so every 5:35 if you reload when each attack occurs. Fighting them off will buy some additional time but it's a MAJOR annoyance and distraction that should never have been incorporated into the game in the first place.

Crashed exotics are very rare, very. The rarest thing in the game is crashed Squid exotic - it even seems easier to discover a new system called by your own full name than to find a fallen Squid

I have been playing since the beginning of nms, and over the years, I have found maybe 5 crashed exotics to fix. They were all the smaller guppy style and one like the one listed above. so, fairly rare indeed. You may still find some listed on youtube searches if that's what you're hunting for.

Agreed. Out of searching hundreds of crash sites, this is my only squid, and it was extremely lucky find that day my friend:

The second luck you needed then - was no pilot bot walking nearby

I never had a Squid. Guess its going to be my next goal now. To find a squid on my own. Wish me luck.

Good luck. I haven't found a crashed one, but in my current game a landed pilot trader brought me one.
