Multiple saves question
If I use one save and build something next to a base I built on a different save. Will i be able to see both those bases from both saves?

Nope. Unless you upload the base from Save 1.

Alternatively, you could export the base from Save 1 and import it into Save 2 with a save editor like the NMS Companion app.

As far as I know, you never see your own bases from other saves, no matter if uploaded or not. Unless it was recently changed.

Yep, this. The only thing that persists from one save to another is the temporary marker beacon (E) you plant from your scanner mode. I use that feature sometimes if I am just starting out a game, because then I can scout out a resource for a base using a character with full hazard and jetpack upgrades, mark the resource in that game, then use a completely different game series to see it. The label doesn't make it through, but the physical marker does, and it's easy to see.

But as mention previously, a save editor may let you transfer a base from one game to another. Uploading a base only makes it visible to others, not yourself, unless the base is already in your game. For some reason your own bases are not downloadable through discovery unless they are already physically in your save file. I personally think they should be at least temporarily visible and usable. I would be careful using the save editor though, as there is a base part limit, so you could potentially load in bases from another game and suddenly your game would hit the "Construction Limit"

I don't get it. I see other peoples bases when I land on other planets ...why wouldn't i see a base thats on that planet from a different save of mine? i thought that was the point of the UPLOAD BASE option
Me Confused
I have found a way to see my base from save #1 while in save #2, which normally does not work. While at the base in save #1, ask a friend to join your group and meet you at that base. While the friend stays there, you quit the game from save #1 and then immediately rejoin the group from save #2. You will start in the star system where your friend is, and then you can go to the base where your friend is, which is actually your base. From save #2, you will not be able to edit your base from save #1. It may also take a while before your base renders for you when you arrive in save #2. The real question then, is will you be able to see this base (save #1) from your save #2 in a session that you start later. I have had mixed success with this.

Well I guess my "brilliant" plan to get around the build limit is a bust...@DennisM , what mixed success?

I have a couple of bases in my other saves that currently appear in my portal list for my main save, where I used the method I described above. But there are other bases where they do not appear in my #1 save portal list, and I haven't figured out the pattern yet. I need to try a few more things related to this.

I guess it would be too easy if we could share bases between saves. I have a mold farm on this same spot in about 7 of my saves. I have to rebuild it every time.

I’m still testing the process, but the following somewhat complicated sequence of steps appears to work (I just used this process to add a base from my save #2 to my save #1). For this exercise, the “target” base means the base you want to add to your list. In this example, I would like to add a base that I created in save #2 (the target) so that save #1 can access it using a normal base teleporter. This process assumes that there is a working base teleporter and save point at the target base and involves both you and a friend having a few minutes and willingness to save and quit a couple of times.

1. Start in the save containing the target base (in this example, save #2).
2. Ask a friend to join your session (group) and meet you at the target base.
3. When your friend has arrived and the base has fully rendered for him/her, your friend saves with a manual save.
4. Your friend uses the base teleporter to warp back to one of his/her bases.
5. Your friend then warps back to the target base using the base teleporter.
6. Your friend saves and quits while at this base.
7. You save and quit from your save #2.
8. Your friend restarts in single player mode and should be at your target base.
9. Your friend repeats steps 4 & 5 above one more time in single player mode, which ensures that the base is accessible to him/her.
10. You start in save #1 in multiplayer mode and join your friend’s session, who is at the target base.
11. Your friend stays there while you use the base teleporter to warp back to one of your bases.
12. You warp back to the target base using the base teleporter.
13. You save and quit.
14. Your friend quits the game, or at least drops the multiplayer session.
15. You restart in single player mode in save #1 at the target base (from save #2).
16. You warp back to one of your other bases.
17. You warp back to the target base. This base should now be in accessible to you using your base teleporter.

The target base will appear in your base teleporter list under “other bases” from your save #1, as it will for your friend. You will not be able to edit this base from your save #1, because it is owned by your save #2.

Nice mold farm! I have been fortunate to discover different mold farms in my various saves.

I should mention that if the planet with the target base is in the "startup" system for that save (first star system), other players, including your other saves, might experience different weather or sentinel activity.

If you have multiple steam accounts (and purchased copies of NMS) you can build bases from one account and you will be able to see that base on the other account (and vice versa)

Yes, I also use that technique. I have a second steam account with NMS so that I can build bases that all my other saves can use and so that I can share resources between my various saves. I sometimes play them at the same time (multiple computers), which is how I tested my procedure above.
