How can I obtain a seed for a ship, multitool etc.
This might be a silly question but I saw many people and site that sharing a seed for cool looking ship, freighter, multitool even for NPC to use in NMS save editor. I know that seed can't be randomly generated ( it can but not always working), it has no pattern so each letter and number can mean anything (please correct me if I'm wrong about this) and each seed have to be tested by actual player that if it working or not.
I heard that there is a method that convert picture ( like screenshot) into a seed but when I read more about it I'm kinda confuse.
My question is that is there a way that when I saw a good looking object that I want it seed, is there anyway to do it and I have to test it before I can share it to anyone ?
I'm not a pro in programming stuff so if anyone kind enough to explain it in easy way would be great.
Thanks a lot

One way that I know of is via the Save Editor mod. It lists the seed value of things.

You make an account with the moding site, can sync with your Steam account, do a Google search for Java and download it, since it needs that to run, and just open the batch file and use the easy to navigate interface.

I got save editor running on my PC now, so you mean that I have to keep exchange ship or multitool and each time get it seed in the save editor?

Just copy down the SEED and put it in a text file, labeled however you like for future use. Don't save with the editor unless you want that new item to become your new whatever. I always put down a manual save beacon or save point before switching ships or whatever. Because with ships, you will need to get in and get out of the new ship for it to autosave in order to be viewed in the editor.

You can select any ship, MT, freighter and now even frigates in your save and replace the existing SEED string with one you have recorded from another ship etc.

This is purely cosmetic. It only reskins your asset. It has no effect on the specs, slot count, slot arrangement etc. That needs to be edited separately using the editor.

Provided you want to cheat your stats.

I only use this section of the editor for reskinning my Exotic Fleet from time to time with a new collection of models.

Yes, I only use it for cosmetic only, Hunting for a good stat still be the beauty of this game
So you mean that I can get the seed from the editor only when that object is in my posession (BC it can readonly the seed of what I have) so inorder to get the seed I have to switch to it and switch back to my original again ?

Thanks for a lot of clarification

Yeah...When you swap ships at say a Trading Post... You still need to get into the new ship and then out again in order to Auto-Save the game with you owning that ship. If you only make the trade and then quit, you just lost it because you didn't save the game first.

Since the game has both an auto-Save and Manual Save section, you can use that to your advantage by manually saving before making the trade, and then buying the new ship, forcing the auto-save, quit and then open the save file with the editor.

After you have gotten the SEED from the editor, quit it without saving, load the game back up, and then RELOAD the "Manual" save.

You will then be back with your original ship before you made the trade, but you have also obtained that other ship's seed file for later use.

Its easier to do that writing out the process like this. ;o)

You can also mess with the editor's "Seed Generator" feature if you want. It knows to only make the certain class of the ship currently selected. So for Exotics, hitting the Seed Generator button will spit out a random Exotic ship seed.

You then save and quit the editor and then load up the game to see what new Exotic model you generated. (Make sure you have your original seed saved in a text file somewhere).

The best way to use that is to do it on your Freighter, and do it to every ship you own. Just make sure you back up your original save first, so that you can return the game back to your original fleet when you are done experimenting.

You made it very clear to me, I will have a save point with me in case I want some cool seed. Is this method also applies for the multitool?
And in save editor save.hg is Manual save and save2.hg is an auto save is that right?

thanks for the help

YES! Use the exact same technique with the Manual Save made before you change MTs, and then get in and out of your ship to create an Auto Save after the swap with you owning the new MT.

Then follow the same procedure above.

The Manual save IS SAVE2.

But I never do anything with Save2 in the editor since that is your safety/backup before the swap.

The game always loads Save1 when launched.

So in editor save1 is an auto save and save2 is manual, I should experiment with save1 rather than mess up my manual save
Thanks
