Does anyone have a tip for accquiring an S Class Experimental or Alien Multitool? And should I get an Experimental or an Alien?

Jump from system to system and keep hoping you get an S-class one. Found S class alien multitool at the anomaly station (though with only 20 slots as opposed to 24). Still haven't played that in a while, so it sits there.

In case you don't get the type you want, go to planets and check their models and the amount of inventory slots they have. The former at least will affect the model at the station if you save and reload at the planet and go back to the station, including the type of multitool it is.

To be honest, it would be great to have people post planets with this in some thread... there is this thread, but chances are, people have already snatched a lot of these from the planet:

And the multitool's mining power seems a bit tiny, may be there are more powerful ones with like 30% or even 40%/50% more mining power? Really want a more powerful mining multitool tbh.

Look at the economy of the system, if the systems economy is wealthy or in that catagory and the focus is experimental......You are much more likely to come across an Experimental Multi tool... If you see an experimental at the space station and it isn't S class, there is very likely an S class hiding in that system somewhere they are not always easy to find so you have to look around.

Thanks. By the way, I know Multitools on Space Stations are bound to systems, but will other buildings with Multitool Terminals stay the same if I leave and come back?

I think they will, however I believe they have implimented some sort of patch recently which gives possibilities of different seeds. For example I went to an experimental system and when I first arrived there the tool was the nice experimental at first in the station....It was not the S class it was B rather so I searched the planets. I noticed after reloading the game the multi tool in the station changed a few times to something different. However after playing for a while and coming back another day the Multitool then was the experimental again. I think its kinda like how the exotic ship spawns work to a degree. I have also heard that in order to get the S class frieghter to even have a chance of spawning you have to have had the current session running for at least 3 hours. Maybe this is a similar function that is happening.

Go to a portal, set glyphs on https://aminoapps.com/c/no-mans-sky-amino-hub/page/item/the-hallelujah-and-experimental/70rD_NNuNIabVXjM2DMr3GGwmrMYDPdEVq
inside, search for a minor settlement. it has an S class multitool

realistically the only way your going to find one is on reddit via portal address. systems and everything else have no bearing on multitools and the odds of finding any experimental/alien tool are significantly lower than seeing S class ships, let alone the fabled S class alien/experi tools.

After the heavy nerf on them, i dont think they worth the effort. nice if you find one though.

It almost seems since the latest patch even encountering S class ships may be a soon thing of the past. Of course if you see the Exotic ship it will always be the S class, but as far as regular ships the last S class I encountered was before that patch and all I have been doing is ship shopping recently. There has been no point in trying to get out of the current galaxy as my main questlines are so bugged only a fresh start could hope to correct it even though I have 200+ hours in.

So an A class 16 slot Rifle is good enough?

A class is not bad at 16 slots but not the best can sometimes find 22 to 24 slot multi tools, don't worry if its a good upgrade for you atm getting a better one later is really not a bad option either.

I saw an S class shuttle after the patch, I wanted it badly, but didn't have enough to buy it, and didn't want to trade my S class fighter.
