best planet(s) for bases?
Im just a really picky person in every base building game on where to make one. I cant decide If I want a planet with the most diverse resources or a temperate one that looks really nice. What kinds of planets have you guys made bases on?

You can build as many as you want now so you can build one on each type of biome to get the most out of the resources.

You'll want three bases on Different planets at minimum (Even if two of them are only sheds) to collect the three atmospheric elements: Nitrogen, Sulphurine, and Radon. Teleporters are rather cheap to build as well so jumping between them later on isn't a big deal. As far as building on a diverse planet; Most planets have one Chromatic metal source, one localised earth element, and one maybe two atmospheric elements available (The second through plants).

I would Heavily recommend building a Base near a Trade terminal though. Having access to plenty of ships coming and going for trade items and keeping an eye out for Good ships to buy.

Lifeless planets are wide open, but offer little by means of resources to gather. Temperate planets offer little to no environmental hazards (aside from sentinels) and typically have enough resources to get by. Hazardous planets will have some resources (Uranium, Pyrite, Phosphorus, Etc) but not very diverse. I'd recommend a temperate planet as you'll need to jump around to other planets to gather the other matierals as you need them anyway.

You can build a minimal base. Basically just the base computer and a teleport. I guess a small hut if it is a nasty planet to get in out of the elements. If you decide you want a more elaborate base, you can build it at any time.

thanks guys. well im only about 7 hours into my current playthrough and I've made only 1 minimal base for the tutorial. I'll probably try and get to a wealthy system and make it next to a trader station for A and S class ships on whatever planet looks nice to me cause finding resources doesnt seem to be too hard even if you have to travel another system

I'd make a base on one of the more "habitable" planet types (verdant, tropical, temperate, flourishing, sometimes barren/desert) and one or two on a more hazardous planet. If you make a base on a hazardous planet, do it on one of the radioactive types, as they have uranium for launch thruster fuel.

thats what I was thinking. I want my main base to be on a scenic and vibrant planet, then I can have separate little outpost bases for easy access to better resources

I put down computer & teleporter on resource rich worlds. A real base, I will put down near an outpost with a store etc and I use worlds that have no bad weather, type is not critical. These are rare. My real, used base is on my freighter, which due to the unlock edit lets me put anything I need on it.
