Question about freighter and storage while changing galaxies
I relieve the bases will be gone with no way back, but can I still summon my freighter in a new galaxy? The storage modules placed in the freighter would still hold the cargo from the previous galaxy?

Your freighter will not be affected in any way.

Your storage containers hold the previous cargo whether they're on the freighter or not. It's already saved in the game's files, so as soon as you create a new copy of one, all its contents will be there.

But yes, your freighter goes with you to a new galaxy. I just changed galaxies and immediately summoned mine because I packed up all of my base materials and stored them in there.

No worries with any ships you own. That would include freighters and now, Frigates as well.

Just take a lot of carbon, sodium and grey metal in your Exosuit, you need it soon :)
Take a low value ship to make the final jump because everything will get broke, inclusive your Multitool IIRC. But no, anything in your freighter and the ships in it will stay intact, also any base content (containers etc.).
This was true before NEXT, so no guarantee he he...

Damn, that demystifies some of that. Not as scary as I thought... and seems kinda disappointing. Don't get wrong, that's great you don't have to start from scratch, but... I was expecting you had to leave everything behind.

I think that would be a bit harsh. Losing all your bases and past discoveries seems harsh enough without taking away all your inventory too. ;o)

Oh but you - almost - have to start from scratch...

I just have mixed feelings about it. Restating is not to be taken lightly, because it is supposed to be harsh. Having materials with you earlier on gives you one heck of a jumpstart on things.

Part of it is it being kind of spoiler (even though info has been around for over a year), and now I'm thinking about how to prepare for my first (eventual) jump to the next galaxy, as opposed to being unsure what will happen, and being pleasantly surprised I kept some of my stuff... a surprising amount of stuff.

In a game designer point of view, it makes sense, since it can't be too punitive, or else no one will really want to move on, let alone explore deeper down the list of galaxies.
