How to get hight quantity of pure ferrite ?
So, i'm building a very big base and i need a very very very VERY VERY VERYYYYYY large amount of pure ferrite. I know that we can buy it on space station, but it's not the case on each station and sometimes i need to warp a lot to find one. So is there a better way to get a lot of pure ferrite than buying it ?

Almost all planets have large rocks on them. Those rocks are made of pure ferrite. I can usually grab a lot by just wandering around doing other things.

Also there are Rare Metal elements you can get from things like Floating Crystals, Supply Depots, or those strange metal deposits shaped like orbs that like to roll when you start harvesting them. If you put them in the refiner, you get lots of Pure Ferrite.

Write down the space stations that do have it and just go there? It's either that or play creative.

set up 5 auto miners on a pure ferrite deposit and visit multiple times a day?

?????????????????
just buy tons of ferrite and the converter is 1:1

Hum, to specify what is a very [...] large amount is about 100k (and perhaps more) :D so mining it will be very long xD
Yea i tryed the converter methode, i got 8 portable refiners in my freighter but you take a quick headache with this.
Didn't try to refine rare metal element, i got several with expedition, could be a nice utilisation than selling it. Do you remember how many you get per element ?
For the pure ferrite deposit i have never seen one before. Is this very efficient ? And not to hard to find ?
For now i guess that station is still the best way...

Set up some oxygen harvesters and an array of med/large refiners, then:

50 Pure Ferrite -> 25 Mag Ferrite
25 Mag Ferrite + 50 Oxygen -> 1 Rare Metal Element
1 Rare Metal Element -> 150 Pure Ferrite
repeat

The second refinement step takes a while when you're doing 125 mf + 250 o2 -> 5 rme, so once you're on that phase you can walk away for a while, you can even shut down the game as refiners continue like plants.

...mining it might be less work; but if you're hitting miners regularly, you'll be grinding out Condensed Carbon with a similar process. (But I am having to grind out Condensed Carbon for the Oxygen harvesters.... I need to hunt down some deposits... and hope the miners don't bug out to Copper.)

The best way that I've found is to use Ferrite (preferably the Magnetized type) and Condensed Carbon in a refinery, which makes a bunch of Magnetized Ferrite, which can be broken down into Pure Ferrite.

Making Rare Metal Elements is time consuming, and buying from a station is only viable if you know where to go.

You can also use the metals used to make Chromatic Metal to turn Ferrite Dust to Magnetized Ferrite.

On top of getting a bunch of Rare Metal Elements via missions you sent your Frigates on.

Here are a few links to help you out.

For whatever reason, I can't find the reference between using various types of ferrites and carbons in those, but they do work well at cheaply generating more ferrite (except for making more Ferrite Dust, which has a one way transformation).

Utilizing Ferrite Dust, which is easy to get from stations, along with various other materials is the best way to get on getting Pure Ferrite for planet-side base building.

If you have Oxygen harvesters, you have a good source of carbon, as you can combine oxygen into carbon and generate more carbon resources than you started with... which then can fuel the harvesters for more oxygen, and can use the huge net gain in carbon for ferrite generating.

I use oxygen harvesters to generate infinite C.Carbon.
1 C.Carbon + 2 Oxygen -> 6 C.Carbon

Then use the C.Carbon to generate infinite Pure Ferrite:
1 C.Carbon + 1 Pure Ferrite -> 3 Magnetised Ferrite (which becomes 6 Pure Ferrite).

Here is a great website for refiner recipes. It works great on a cell phone.

You can get 4k+ from wealthier systems. That's only 20 systems. I probably have 20 systems that sell pure ferite in my teleporter list, but even if you have less than that, this doesn't sound like a 1 day project. You probably just need a handful of systems.

You can also play the "crash the economy" game and get it significantly cheaper if you have several systems that you can buy from.

I can't imagine why you would even consider refining that much material. At 250 per refiner, that's 400 trips to the refiner if all you have to do is feed in material and take it out. If you have to also buy the other ingredients and refine them it's even crazier.

Raid freighters with magnetised ferrite (Make sure to only attack cargo pods and not kill any ships, to avoid a loss of reputation.) Refine the mag ferrite into ferrite dust, then refine it again.

This. I find it faster than buying it with travel times, load times and the damned purchase ticker.

I found an anomalous world that was loaded with Pure Ferrite. I've used it to mass mine the stuff for my base.

@Uueerdo, earlier I ran out of everything except for oxygen after a long drive underwater. Ironic that only oxygen remained but anyway...

I turned 2 oxygen in to carbon, then into condensed, followed by using up a few (3) hundred oxygen to refill a 500 slot plus almost the same in main inventory. I only stopped because that's all I will need to refill the five Pure Ferrite miners or the Phosphorus three, or perhaps the five paraffinium ones which I use for vanilla ferrite.

I don't need to drop in to those bases often any more as constructions are complete for now.

Buy pungneum on stations or farm from sentinels, put it together with pure ferrite in the refiner it will give a higher ratio of magnetized ferrite, then you refine the magnetized ferrite back to pure ferrite with a 1:2 ratio. It works with ferrite to pure ferrite too, just put the pungneum in the other slot of the refiner and the yield its higher than usual.

I'm in the same situation quite now where I build a smaller base in a wealthy system and temperate planet. On space station they have a stock of 3400 of them to buy. But that's it, if you buy it all it's not available anymore. I will try to save-reload to see if still available but I don't think this works.

I think you can also refine it (from magnesium, ferite dust ?)
