1 for red star jumps.
1 for green star jumps.
1 for blue star jumps.
1 for in system flights (shuttle service, so to speak - in important or base systems).
1 for cargo tasks (in base systems).
1 for bounty missions.
This is true for all my main saves.
In my expedition- or new-update-test-saves I don't bother with more than one ship.
What does make you think I would need to swap ships constantly?
I'm no star system b*tch who needs to jump on every system I'm seeing - I take my time with every system I come across. Which leads to hours of flying one single ship until I would need to swap a ship.
And because of the quickmenu, switching is a matter of seconds.
Why do I have multiple ships?
I dunno man. I ask myself the same question. In fact, I recently deleted a bunch I never used. The Golden Vector is what I fly most of the time, with the others that I spared being around for nostalgia or that "maybe one day I will do something with this..." hoarding thing that we people are so good at.
2 smaller fighters (both S grade). I've outgrown these really but I hold on to them anyway as I picked up some good X modules for them.
1 A grade fighter ship with quite a lot of inventory space - more like an Explorer. It's a good all-rounder and I use it for mining, recruiting other frigates and popping into new space stations from my freighter. It's solid enough to withstand a pirate attack.
1 Gek-style small hauler for carting all my building stuff around (S grade).
1 S grade Exotic just because I fancied an exotic.. I'll probably never ride it. maybe for fun later.
I'd like to get a Solar spaceship as never had one in this game yet.. but I'm waiting till an S class turns up!
I like the different aesthetics of Fighter ships, that's why I purchase a few!
I guess technically you keep a beater ship for making galactic jumps so your regular ship(s) don't need to be repaired.
I have four ships at the moment. Two solars, a living ship, and a royal exotic. I should probably claim my Golden Vector, but I just couldn't think of a situation where I'd use it. The living ship is fully expanded, it's my general purpose ship. It's weird and kind of fun to fly. I just scrapped an explorer I was using to galaxy hop. My solars are both piratey type ships, I have them equipped with different weapon loadouts to change up how I'm dogfighting. My royal exotic is kinda showy looking and is more of an all-rounder for when I think I'll need high shields.
One of my solars is the Hadachig OB2. If you go to the portal coordinates in that first picture, you can pick one up yourself. It pulls double duty as my "pimpmobile". If I want to impress someone, I show up in that. It's outfitted as a long range burst damage ship.
Fun fact, the blue jumper can jump to all systems.
A big ball hauler with no techs for storing stuff.
A Large pod explorer for long jumps
A Golden vector for space battles (somewhat moot because my fan wing hauler does just fine)
A Living ship, a Solar Ship, and a Royal Exotic for for show.
