Keep sending normal frigates out on missions until you get a dream aerial (blueprint), then use that to get your first living frigate. After the first one you can get more using anomaly detectors (look up how to do this without wasting them) or randomly when pulsing (extremely rare, don't bother waiting for this.)
The dream Aerial is the item you need for getting your first living Frigate. It's random dip from Frigate missions. Yes even in normal mode. No need to do expiditions.
It was the method used before the organic frigates
Only happened once for me so far. I was pulsing to a planet in my living ship and the megafauna (not the organic frigate one, but upgrade appeared)...no luck since then though getting them this way :(
You can get them (and spawning sacs) as random rewards by normal frigate runs without living ones.
Is it a bug? Maybe. Maybe not. But as it's beneficial, I regard it as a feature.
Good to know. Either way they'll be much more likely/frequent when using organic frigates, so that's best for anyone wanting to collect them in adequate numbers (especially assuming those people will obviously want spawning sacs too.)
