Build menu issues with XBox One controller
Hey everyone,

Recently picking NMS after a hiatus and while I played previously with keyboard/mouse, I'm now attempting to use a wired XBox One controller. Everything works fine EXCEPT the build menu. I CANNOT deploy my portable refiner with my controller - once I've selected it with the build menu, my controller is completely useless. I can't even access the menu to quit the game. At that point, my only recourse is to open my laptop lid and use the trackpad to place the damned thing.

Anyone else getting this?

when in-game, go into the Options tab to the controller section... then into the remap section which will bring up the steam controller settings... in there, load the Official NMS controller settings, save and back out of each stage... once you are back in-game, everything should work as desired...

Not sure if OP fixed issue or not. But the above is correct. ALSO make sure to turn on the controller BEFORE starting NMS. If you don't, it loads a weird config(things like scanner/sprint buttons are on opposite joysticks etc).

To make sure the correct xbone config is loaded, when the game starts up(and controller is already turned on), when you first use joystick/button, you should see a small steam box on bottom right side of screen say "CONFIG LOADED: Official configuration"(with an xbone controller symbol).

If you still have issues with the xbone controller being mapped improperly, then there is a way to make steam load a different driver or something which then makes the config load properly. It requires simply launching into game ONE TIME using big picture mode. Sometime steam has a hiccup or doesn't use it's driver for controller and the fix is oddly enough....loading games in BPM (the box with arrows in it to the left of the minimise button in steam client window).

Reason I brought this up is because I made a guide a while back, and I would rather people searching for a fix, have all the info available
