Cracking Void Egg Help?

i was given a cracking void egg by another player and went to the coordinates in the items description and i am in the right galaxy but nothing happens. is this a bug? if so should i just destroy the egg? Please help

You are supposed to follow a (lengthy) quest.

so i need to get another egg since this one did not trigger it since it was already cracking. gotcha tyvm!!

Eggs can get duplicated in ships(? only happened to me once; done quest 3 times). The duplicated egg was behind in the progression. Might be worth looking up in a guide, that the egg you have, is in sync with your progression.

Cracking egg is a mid quest piece for the first living ship quest. no good without all the other pieces unfortunately. Your second and following living ships no longer require the quest and don't produce a cracking egg.
