Went through portal-ship didn't follow, no construction menu, portal on other end doesn't work

I went through a portal on a planet and ended up somewhere else-my ship didn't come with me. I don't have a build menu, and for some reason the return portal's activation panel doesn't pop up.

Is this a glitch, or is there some part of the game I'm not understanding?

you could just summon a ship, get to the space station and teleport elsewhere
(as for the portal...are you at the right end?)

Normally the portal just stays open so you can go back through. Sounds like a major glitch. I would load my most recent save. I don't think it auto saves when you exit a portal.

Is this part of a quest? then you need to wait for abit after going thru ... did you exit game? or save? not enough information about your situation.

At one point the devs had programmed portal interference into the game. It caused lots of grief to many players and the devs removed portal interference but it occasionally still rears its head as a bug. This sounds similar.

If you are on a mission, there is at least one where you have to go find your ship....it will be broken.
