The Civilizations: How to Create One?
So when I first got onto the "Anomaly", I found that there were special custom decals and patches for various (presumed) community groups (such as "Cafe 42" and "United Federation of Travelers"), and I was wondering if this were a player-driven collective...because if so, I'd very much like to found one of my own, to fill a very specific niche that I noticed has not been addressed aboard the "Anomaly".

The few I've seen, democracies and empires alike, have a focus on exploration and peace, which is cute and all (probably since that's the primary focus of game development), but what I'm looking for would go like this:

The Republic of Elite Mercenaries, abbreviated as REM, aim to act as the preeminent combat unit by serving as the Special Forces for the Mercenary Guild.

Our mission: To Destroy the Threats to Travelers
Our motto: Stand Up and Fight!

I could even theoretically draft up my own patch design for that, but obviously, this hypothetical group's focus is on stamping out piracy and Sentinel oppression wherever it's found. If I had my way, there's a prerequisite for joining: at least 100 ships blown up, at least 100 Sentinels downed, with preference of Mercenary Guild rank of Associate or higher, all put together just to have a decent-ish bar to set so we can try to protect the "Elite" moniker in the namesake. (And the good news is, UNLIKE REALITY, there IS a way to get that "work experience".)
As a Republic, it is presumed there would be some semblance of democracy for the inner workings of that organization.

There would be a heavily co-op aspect like all the "Civilizations" I am aware of (or a "riding alone" mindset if we can't really congeal significantly, especially since I in particular have a tendency to "fly solo" - not counting NPCs), just an emphasis on combat. And given the mission statement plus the bar to join, safe to presume this is a very (comparatively) hardcore collective of pilots, adventurers, and even heroes. I want it to mean something if somebody were to boast "I'm a member of REM!"

I'm sure the Vikings (I mean Vy'Keens) would be very appreciative of this intention if my initiative could gain traction.
And, if that's already happened, maybe you can point me to one of your own groups in-game. Either way, I very much like the idea (though given auto-pilot as a feature, it's hard to praise a pilot for holding down the S key and mouse left until the pirates die).

For a P.S. I saw this map https://galacticatlas.nomanssky.com/poi/region-10B2FF12D107 (There's even a Reiche featured if you look to the map's 9-o-clock direction, at the Musayaj Conflux) and was wondering who decides what it takes to literally get put on the map. Because this is super cool, almost adds an air of "becoming canon" to things that hypothetically get big enough (the sort of thing that I wanted Elite Dangerous to do, but that game in recent times has decided to not continue pursuing, which is part of why I drifted to No Man's Sky; meaning if you're truly digging for "ulterior motives" on me, I'm going to be transparent about that: I would very much enjoy a way to prove myself as a hero worthy of "becoming canon" like the other groups - with the nifty circle decal patch in-game to prove it).

Is there a more "official channel" for me to pitch this to?

Semper Bellum!

Player factions don't exist in this game.

I expected, because always bet on disappointment. So then what is this?

Reddit? From time to time some one comes along here and posts some cosplay idea. I guess some folks like it, but never really rocked my world.

Some of the flag/decorations are for galactic hub groups that formed over time. Most are not very active and it is mainly a location to group together cool bases. A few appear to keep things rolling...at least from the posts I see.

The whole combat aspect has never really caught on because it is pretty easy, very avoidable, and there is no way to "win". Tomorrow the galaxy will be just the same as today.

I think the few that are into the "hard core" combat thing tend to make up their own rules and fantasies.

That's just roleplay *outside* of the game.

I have created the Klingon Empire of the Kissonlin galaxy. We span all quadrants and will destroy anyone that opposes our rule. Come join us!
