Got to agree. They feel like the worst carnival ever came to town. Fun for about 1 minute. I only went to one to pick up basalt.

Hmm, totally forgot about Basalt and I do like my Voltaic Amplifier

I too rarely visit them. For me there just isn't a need, and there is nothing that draws me to them. If you build a base on them, your base shakes with every eruption. We have enough shakes in the game. Far too many things get stuck/buried in the volcanoes with no way to access them.

I also tend to avoid them, is there actually a use for Basalt in the game?

I finally found my first Volcanic planet the other day. The planet was labeled as "Imminent Core Detonation."
I totally should have called it Krypton. DOH.

Only recently attempted a survival playthrough. The game started me on a volcano planet. When I eventually reached the ship, it was no longer there. I just left myself die on that one!
