I tried port forwarding the game's ports but it didn't solve the issue, so I undid those port forwards and there was no change in the situation.
So basically if the server has issues and you connect, you basically have to force the game to put you on another server, but I was for whatever reason unable to play with my friends, only with randoms.
I have also tried reaching out to the devs via their support platform, but I've been basically ignored since April until still now.
Hey there, I had the same issue and it was driving me crazy. I had to fix it on multiple locations on windows.
First of all check if your Xbox-Live-Network works like it should. You can find it under Windows-Settings > Gaming > Xbox-Network. It should be connected, live services should work and your NAT-Type has to "open" as well as your server connectivity has to be "connected".
Then reset your Windows Firewall settings. Even when you use another Antivirus, NMS establishes connections through the windows firewall. Just turning it off doesn't help. It has to be resetted. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/restore-windows-firewall-defaults/. I use Kaspersky and had to reset it so that my server-connectivity is connected.
Your router should allow Teredo-Connections. Especially AVM blocks such connections. You have to uncheck it in your router settings.
Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Filters" in the "Internet" menu.
Click on the "Lists" tab.
Disable the option "Teredo filter enabled". If the option is not displayed, enable the Advanced View first.
Click "Apply" to save the settings.
And port forwarding should be active for that use. Port forwarding can be found in your router settings.
I even had to upgrade my windows (reset but keep all files and apps with the windows media creation tool) so that I can log into my microsoft store with my account. I didn't lost any files through that so it was ok for me. Your Xbox-app and your microsoft store needs to be logged in into the same account. If not, check if you can sign out and sign in with the right account.
I resetted my microsoft store and all xbox-applications on windows through windows. Go into settings > Apps&Features> Click on the windows store or xbox app> advanced settings> click on the reset-button
I also had to set teredo to enterprise-client in the command prompt. Search in google for that.
And in the group policy editor of windows i needed to activate everything with "Teredo" in the name. And my Teredo-Status had to be in "enterprise-client" as well. It is in german, but you can translate it to your computer language.
You should also activate UPnP in windows and your router settings. I think this is what most people in some forums said and it worked for me too.
Restart your pc, not only shutdown, press "restart" after you did all of these steps.
After all that, it still didn't work, so I went into my game, deactivated Mutliplayer, went into my session, activated it ingame and then flew to the anomaly to check, and there they were. I was finally able to play with other people.
I hope this helps you.
With kind regards
