Best way to sell extra ships & do they have to be fully repaired?
So I know you can sell (scrap?) your active ship at a space station, but it seems very inconvenient to do this one at a time - teleport back to some base, call in another ship, fly back to the space station and repeat. Is there a better way? Can I summon another ship to a space station if my current one gets sold?

Also, do you get more money if they're fully repaired?

Thanks!

Of course if you have a teleporter at your base you can also summon the broken ship & teleport to station.

The last part happens automatically. You’ll never be without a ship & when you’re on your last ship, you can’t scrap it

There is no way to sell a ship. You can exchange for another or scrap a ship. Repairs are not required in either cases.

The best trick is to allow the broke ship to arrive automatically on your freighter. Jump in and jump out- go upstairs and use the teleporter to the current station. The broke ship will follow you even though it needed basic repairs to fly. Scrap away mate!

Both replies explain everything, thanks. I like the idea about making a broken ship active in the freighter and teleporting to station.

I carry resources to repair just 2 ship tech parts needed to get it to the station on its own power (if i have a ton of resources i repair shield just to shut the alarm off).
Unsure if repairing changes value or if breaking tech parts reduces ...

There is no change to the value you will earn as soon as you scrap a ship. If you want to repair it, it's up to you (for rp purposes) - it doesn't change anything if you just want the quick cash.
As for me, I always repair them completely - I consider a broken ship as a quest. Gives me something to do and something to spend my money, time and ressources on. And fits my narrative.

Note that early game swapping ships CAN be a really good trick. Repair the broken ship just enough to get it to the station and exchange for something non-broken. Having a few 100k units to sweeten the deal often helps but certainly if you got a salvage hauler swapping for an S-class something else can work.

Note this is purely opportunistic, sometimes you'll get the chance, mostly you won't but if you managed to do it reduces the early grind significantly.

Here’s the scoop on crashed ships value:
1: If I repair broken technology, will I get more money?
A: NO
2: If I repair damaged slots, so that the ship actually gains usable slots, will I get more money?
A: YES <- However, if you factor in the cost of repairing the damaged slot, you will most likely break even or loose money so that’s why it’s advised to simply scrap crashed ships as is.

Never had a ship change his/her value when checking the scrap station upon clearing the slots in a ship I wanted to scrap. So, I'm not sure why it is for you. Maybe you're using mods that change this behaviour?

Related question if anyone wants to answer; when I find an abandoned ship - do I have to repair the pulse drive and launch thrusters to have it appear on my freighter?

I've done that for every ship just because it seems logical, but if it's not necessary I'll save the resources

Nope. Some mechanic-maniacs (I'm sure rogue Korvax) will transport it magically to your freighter. Or to the Anomaly. Just summoning it on a planet won't work.

If you have a freighter with teleport installed, you can select the crashed ship as primary and teleport to a space station. Once there the pulse and thrusters will be automatically fixed.

Or you can scrap it without any ressource spending needed, yes.
