Why everyone loves sitting in front of the Nexus?

It's not like they are waiting for the mission list to update, because most of them are sitting far enough from Nexus that you won't get interaction prompt...

Maybe they want free stuff, or they just like to watch the players coming and going.

Multiple reasons. They may be waiting for someone. They may be waiting for the mission list to change. They may be opening their base on another galaxy hoping someone will take advantage of it to jump and see their base. Or.... They may be AFK eating a samich. No worries. It isn't personal.

Probably rearranging their inventory or just simply on a break. The Anomaly is the quickest way to escape any pirate trouble and pause the game.

Also if you see a ship or something you like and decide to take photos, you can simply move the camera about while your character stays put.

And yeah while waiting there you likely will get lots of free gifts. Usually I end up waiting for others to join my mission. and messing about with companion pets.

I think the mission list changes every 10 minutes.

Probably waiting for someone to give out free stuffs. Some just dont wanna earn it, i remember playing that ol' Diablo II back in those days. Wouldnt believe how many beggers want a free runs.

If I sit in front of the Nexus, I'm waiting for new missions to roll around. Missions change every ten minutes - and some missions I don't want to do, when I'm hunting for my daily quicksilver.

they are just hanging out, waiting to socialize, is what i feel like.

when you go to the nexus in vr and just wave at the mass of people, they will come rushing at you and spam emotes/shower you with stuff.
lotta them are happy if you just randomly dance

i personally hang out there sometimes just to look at the ships coming in, hanging out in discord (really something else in vr) when a cool one comes in, i ask if they have the coords and pay for it.

Free stuff leave myself afk for a while.come.back to all sorts of goodies and junk. Had like 5 stasis devices the other day among the scrap metal and such

Nexus is like the only 100% safe place to go afk. Permadeath habit.
-No pirate attacks on your position or freighter
-No weather issues

It also gives you the most mobility getting back in because of all the portals given by other players nearby,

I return your last sentence, if you don't want to give anyone anything it's your prerogtive, no one is forcing you, you remind me of those peoples bi**ching about other peoples using the editor because THEY play by their stupid rules, it's the way they want to play THEIR game and frankly it's none of your business so why don't you grow up and stop judging, let peoples play the way they want to play.

I personally hang out there because it's the only place I can see other peoples and use the chat, even if it's only to say hey XX nice ship. I maxed out on everything a long time ago so not there to ask anything from anyone, I usually delete what ever peoples give me.

Well all seems reasonable, although I haven't seen that much people begging for items.
By the way, anyone know how to fix broken fonts (some chat messages appear as boxes)? I know those boxes are probably Chinese, Korean or Japanese but the lobby just doesn't feel right when you can only see boxes instead of real chats.

Cuz some people loves to drop random stuff on other ppl. Those console people, without ability to use save editor as easy as PC does, takes advantage of that. Nothing much...
