"After days of sitting at a trade post in a crappy economy because it had the perfect colored exotic ship, the ship I was waiting for finally landed. Unfortunately it landed in the 10sec frame I was distracted and I arrived to it seconds late, and the pilot returned to the ship. Im now standing on top of it preventing it from leaving hoping there is some work around, exploit, glitch, method, anything to get him out before I have to waste another multiple days for it to come back"
Interesting! Have you ever followed a ship and seen them land before? I have followed a few for awhile out of curiosity, but always dropped away as it seemed pointless.
Well I lost the ship, but it was interesting and actually fun. So my ship was up on the hill overlooking the trade station. So I walked to the nose of the ship I was holding and clicked on the landing pad summoning terminal. I thought it might summon my ship on top of me but it didn't and put it on the pad next to me. I jumped in my ship and the ship I wanted was off before I was even in my ship so I took off and followed. He didn't stay on the planet but took right off for space. It seemed he was heading for the space station, so I was really excited. The problem was that this planet was the farthest planet from the space station, and he was not warping, not even pulsing. The station showed to be 24 minutes away at our average cruising speed.
Every time we went into an asteroid field he would wander and loop around sometimes looking like he was gonna return to the planet but every time, he get back on course headed towards the SS. It was fascinating because normally, these ships despawn when they are far enough away from the player. I think my staying with him kept him from despawning.
Then I get scanned by hostile ships. I was like crap! I'm gonna lose him, but he engaged in the fight. I shot down one ship, and while I didn't actually see it, it looked like he was attacking the other ship and then I got the message that all ships were defeated. That right there is amazing. In all my hours in this game I have never seen an npc ship actually kill another ship. Now I'm truly caught up in this. I have to see what happens.
Next I get a message that a freighter is in trouble and needs help. OK freighter rescue missions can start while you are already in the system, but they are rare. I'm like omg! Well I was briefly stalked/attacked but this time the ship didn't partake and kept heading to the SS, so I followed leaving the freighter rescue behind.
Now about three times while in an asteroid field this ship just disappeared right in front of me, but each time reappeared a few seconds later.
Finally, sadly, on the fourth disappearance he did not reappear. I flew to the space station and waited, but no luck. I reloaded a few times, but no luck. : (
Still an amazing little adventure!
