What's up with biological horrors?
What's the deal with the "biological horrors" that pop up from whispering eggs? Is it ever explained where they come from, how they got to so many different planets, or why they like to lay eggs around abandoned manufacturing facilities? Are they related to the critters crawling around on derelict freighters? (They're kinda like zerglings... maybe HG wants to do a Starcraft crossover at some point, like they did with Mass Effect??)

They just want to be your friend. Embrace them, hug them, pet them and call them George.

Noice, well I'm sure my buddy George won't mind if I take one of these eggs he's got lying around

Oh dang they DO look like those dudes from Pitch Black!! God that's some classic cinema right there. Retcon the sequels and bring back Jack imo

Side note... Do they seem less aggressive to you now too? A couple of years ago they would spit at me and really swam me, so I tended to just leave them alone. Recently though I have poked them at several abandoned facilities and tend to let me run around stealing their eggs without much trouble. Maybe a bit here and there, but mostly they just run around.

They came with the water.

Yes, it is explained. Like everything else in this game - by reading. I.e. by reading the terminals in those abandoned buildings. There are hints what happened and what those horrors really are.

Yeah, they don't seem nearly as scary as I remember them from NEXT

Hmmm, without some spoilers this could be very hard.
Let's put it this way: Despite the overwhelming notion that NMS wouldn't have a story (or a bad one) the lore and world building is pretty thick.
And dark. To the point that it could rival Warhammer 40k, in which the Warp will alter everything and turn everyone into something else, if it has the chance to do so..."ahem".

or just start a spoilers thread about'em so those who want to read it can and know there's spoilers in it...

Agree, idk if there's a rule against spoilers or something? Tbh this doesn't seem like the kind of game where people would be mad about spoilers.

Any work - fiction or non-fiction - is a work where people would be mad about spoilers. It's common courtesy to hide spoilers.
