Replacing Upgrades
Can I sell or scrap upgrades as I replace them with better ones? Can't seem to find anyplace to do that in stations or the anomaly

Middle mouse button as you hover over the upgrade, (or whichever the pick up button is on your controller). This will destroy the upgrade and give you back half the materials used to make it. Slot is now free to install something else. In the case of purchased upgrades, this can be a quick way to get rarer components, like cadmium. You can't craft a particular upgrade, but if you could it'd use cadmium, so the game gives you half the cadmium cost when you destroy it.

you can sell them to the ship guy or according person depending on the upgrade your selling....try that......you get nanites back

Installed upgrades (the ones you buy and also the ones you make yourself), you can choose to destroy, and then you get back some of the materials they were built with.

If you have unused upgrades you do not need, you can sell them back to the NPCs that sell upgrades on the space stations, and then you get some of their value back in nanites.

wait... how do you remove an upgrade without destroying it so you can sell it?

Already installed upgrades can't be sold. (you can only destroy them)
Only not installed ones can be sold.

I fear @Farsha is right: you can't uninstall an upgrade, just scrap it for half the materials. But you can sell any uninstalled upgrade to any vendor (so you don't need to ship upgrades to the ship vendor, etc. -- they will all buy any upgrade for nanites.

Porbably since OP never specified what kind of upgrades they were talking about.

So just for clarity:
You can sell any upgrade (uninstalled item in your inventory) to the tech merchants for nanites (amount depends on the quality) or you can sell them at an intergalactic trade terminal for some cash (very minimal, do NOT do this, take the nanites from the tech merchants).

For techs you have already installed anywhere, you can scrap them with the Middle mouse button (or R3 pressed down on a controller) to get some materials back (most of the time you do that for the wireing Looms or some rare resources you don't have access to yet).
