dune planets
Have anyone found desert planets like the movie Dune ? A sea of sand to the edge of the horizon ?

A little like those airless planets, but with sands

The game will always add rocks and plants to the generated planets.

I always wanted a planet that was nothing but grass, with mostly flat ground, maybe some slight rolling hills.

But anything that comes close always has other small plants and rocks.

Dune and True water world is direly missing from this game. It sucks that max depth on the planets is barely deeper than a swimming pool lmao.

I have found a couple of "parched planets" That had zero big plants on it, just had some kind of pods here and there for Carbon, and it was just barren otherwise. But, it was mostly just barren surface. Not like huge sand dunes or anything like you're wanting. EDIT: On the bright side, one did have the giant worms though :)
Oceans, although not as deep as most would like, are MUCH better than they were. Although not as common, you can at least find them where the depth is a solid 60-80u. We're talking 15-20 of the standard pre-fabs stacked on top of the other before breaking the surface. Also, many have caves that go way deeper than that and are great for hiding a pre-fab with a teleporter and stoofs in.
I've also found plenty of "water worlds" - nothing but the occasional island here and there. So, it's just a matter of searching for them. I've never plopped down a base on one cuz it's not what I'm looking for, but just do a reddit search - somebody out there will have coords.

Unfortunetly it doesnt seem like the procedural tech supports any sand Dunes,

The "Desert Planets" in this game are way closer to the Navada Desert then the Rub Al Khali.

shame as I would love to find a an "Arrakis" and set up base or settlement there.

max depth is about 60 meters.

Right before the Atlas Rises update, oceans were deeper, darker, and they had huge predatory fish.

At least 80 m, or I need to repair the gauge on my suit. I seem to remember seeing depths as deep as 110 m if you can find an underwater cave.

Not that it matters very much. It is clear that they kept things workable and not too long to traverse. That is one of the features most people never compliment the game on...but they spend some time thinking about distances and when traveling would become way too long.

Put in a suggestion via Zendesk to HG. I am pretty certain "sand" or dunes does not exist in game. Given the nature of the game, I would be surprised if they can make it malleable so foot prints or tire tracks would show, but it would be another interesting landscape to find.

I would love to see 100% sand dune and water worlds. Maybe a new type of glitch planet.

How would you land in a water world?

It's a great idea, all sand or all water would be a cool variation. I bet some would even go for all lava.
give dead planets an atmo, color the sand yellow, make a proper landscape template *g*
try to make buildings half buried in dunes and/or half excavated, add dust clouds

yeah, would look nice and could be achieved if you make a whole new planet template like the weird colorless planets so you wouldnt see them too often..

i swear, i would rebuild a my old Tatooine Eucli-ea base there! or much better, all three bases of Winder, Ashfacta and me together.
