How do you find your creature companions native planet?

The companion log says the creatures native planet is barren. I just looked through EVERY planet in the discovery tab and none of them show as barren. Obviously I was on a barren planet or I wouldn't have this creature companion. Having to go back to the native planet to get a companion egg is just stupid. It came with me as my companion, let it lay an egg anywhere!! This game drives me nuts. How the hell do I find the native planet?

It doesn't need to be the same planet you got it from, just a planet with the same conditions, in this case Barren... Also called windswept, dusty, rocky etc... Creatures just need to be in their native biome to drop eggs..

Barren is also called Desert, Rocky, Bleak, Parched, Abandoned, Dusty, Desolate, or Wind-swept.

I think I tried a planet classified as desolate. It was nothing but rocks and sand and had no resources. That didn't work to get creature egg.

That was probably an "Empty"-type planet. Try looking for one that gives Cactus Flesh and Pyrite. That's the kind of planet you want.
