I'm pretty sure you can move your stuff over to the other ship manually on the sell screen. Just make sure you do it before you hit the buy button.

As said, manually move everything over during the comparison view before hitting exchange or kiss it all goodbye.

But you cant access the bulk storage slots on the purchase screen, right? So, thats a problem

If you mean the storage containers that you put on the freighter itself - then that's part of a separate inventory, it'll still be there if you replace them in build mode.

Wait you can do that? I never was able to do that...

You cannot. The only tab accessible during the actual ship purchase is the main inventory. When you are first looking at just the new ship, you can look at the technology tab (maybe even the cargo tab). However, those tabs are not available during actual purchase where you can transfer items from your old ship.

So in response to the OP; if you don’t take the items out of the cargo slots before selling your ship, they will be gone along with the ship.

No. In an exchange starship for another starship you have the general inventory, but no access to the tab with the mass storage slots. At least thats how I recall it. I remember I had to clean them out manually before changing starships.

The ones marked numerically? Yeah, I just checked, those are a separate inventory. You can even access it by crafting one of those storage containers on a planet. You could always check with a random Freighter and reload a save.

Everything transfers these days. A nice change and there's no need to rebuild the freighter interior.

I think there are two discussions here - freighter storage and starship storage. Best to not get the two cornfuzed. Just sayin.

OH ZOTHEN WAS TALKING ABOUT STARSHIPS.

I'm a dumbass, my bad-

You can move cargo from the general tab of one ship into the other during the inspection phase of the transaction. However, you do not have access to the expanded cargo tab while in that screen. If you chose not to move the material, it will be lost once the transaction is completed.

That being said, some of us who have played for a while are already in the habit of moving and allocating cargo storage prior to making a starship purchase or exchange. Managing storage is part of the experience.

If you mean cargo storage then yes you can simply by clicking on the inventory tabs at the top.
