What's the current strategy to find 'perfect' planets?
Haven't played for a longer time and I am still looking for my perfect planet, leaning towards Earth-like perhaps with golden grass and beautiful lights at night, 3 star system with settlement, no sentinels (is that possible with settlements?), no hazardous weather.

When I last played, the usual recommendation for finding these planets was to look for Paradise ones in systems with an exotic sun (red, blue, green), is this still up to date?

There is no trick. It's all random.

Yellow systems in a lush galaxy will have a higher chance of lush planets. That's as close to a trick as you're going to get.

Eissentam has a slightly better chance of paradise worlds. Depending on what your definition of "perfect" is, it can be very easy. If you have very specific line items it can be hard anywhere.

Important to point out that just because you find a "perfect" planet, does not mean the grass won't change color or minor changes will not occur. I discovered my home base planet over five years ago. I have my base at the exact same spot on several saves. (base computer in the wild)

The system changed from 9 planets to six. My home world has changed from a red and yellow/orange palette to a green grass and blue sky palette to a purple and pink grass palette with bubbles.

Through all of it, the critters have remained non-aggressive- but changed. The sentinels are scarce and the weather is shirt sleeve perfect.

So permanence is an illusion. Don't get too possessive about your stuff.

You should better get to lush galaxies, they has lots of lush planets.
10 - Essentam
19 - Isdoraijung
30 - Sudzerbal
etc.
NMS wiki on Fandom says that the most lush galaxy is #19 Isdoraijung. The easiest way to get there is the teleporter on the Anomaly if you find a player's base in the base list.

For your best chance:

-Jump to a lush galaxy (as mentioned above)
-Try yellow systems as they have the biggest chance of having Verdant planets
-Planets those marked as 'Paradise' will never have storm
-Planets those have any Activated stellar material, are extreme storm planets
-The planets with illuminescent grass are always mushroom OR forthing planets. There is no pretty grass unfortunately on normal planets.
-You can avoid sentinels still, but the settlement will still have sentinel raids regardless
-3 star system? If you refer it to economy wise, just install economy scanner. If you refer to having 3 stars in a system, its entirely random. You can have 3 stars in a yellow system.

I also would like to recommend you my thread which has a couple of nice planets:

On side note, stormless desert and frozen planets can be quite a special kind of perfection too, as these types tend to have very Earthlike flora.

There is a table about 3/4ths the way down this page that gives you the chances based on galaxy and star type.

There used to be some threads with lists of tons of paradise planets found in eissentam and/or euclid. Can't find them now.

Thanks for your tips, guys!

That's a good point, thanks, think that I will cut back on the visual criteria then and see if I can find something more general.

This one where I have my main base in Euclid is the nicest I have found, I named it planet Hawaii. Nothing what so ever agressive not even sents. You're welcome to come have a look and build on it

You're Eager! That's for sure. You don't have to follow any path in the Galaxy. Once you have your Hyperdrive you can go completely wild to unknown solar systems.

Just make sure you have enough hyperdrive fuel in storage or you could find yourself, like I did recently, in a solar system in which there was no Space Station or buildings on any planet. Not other player's buildings either.

No way back to a solar system up the creek without a paddle. I remembered to make a couple of warp drive fuel containers, thankfully.

I like this game for a number of reasons. If I were to number them. Number One is,
"To Go where No one has gone before."

Drop a base computer and build a solar panel and teleporter and just teleport back to any other space station you visited.

I base out on a planet like you describe, but it is missing the feeling of an atmosphere - I don't need a roof but it 'feels' better than a low gravity planet where there is also no atmosphere.

I like a base to protect the player, else they don't really serve a purpose and the player might as well just plop down a couple of refiners and storage. A base should be multi functional and a place to exist. My ultimate plan IRL is to buy land and live on it without some landlord a* :)

Greetings

Best video I have found that explains using Spectral class information on the galaxy map to help you find "Paradise" planets and increase your chances in finding the best ones. Has made life so much easier for me! :pandastunned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzLYsf17ha8
