Experimental Branch 13/04
Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch 15/04
  • Fixed a collision issue with the wings of Solar class starships.
  • Pirates will no longer attack players who are underground, underwater, or in their own base.
  • Pirates no longer attack planets in low conflict systems.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the pirate raid warning message to display when there was no pirate attack incoming.
  • Fixed an issue that caused pirates to deal too much damage when shooting at the player on the ground, and for the player to receive ship-related warning messages when hit.
  • Trader ships now use the red hostile target arrow on the starship HUD if they are attacking the player.
  • Fixed an issue that caused repair kits to be too expensive when purchased with tainted metal.
  • Fixed an issue that caused pirate raid markers to fail to clear from buildings when the raid ends.
  • Fixed a texture streaming memory leak.

Experimental Branch 15/04
  • Fixed a crash related to NPC ships.

Experimental Branch 14/04
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the camera to be out of focus when repairing or installing ship technologies while onboard the ship.
  • Fixed an issue that caused squadron ship engines to be very loud while flying in formation.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the solar ship engine vents to constantly flap open and closed in the inventory menu.
  • Fixed a number of instances of missing audio effects.
  • Fixed a number of glitches and other visual issues with player capes.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the starship utility menu to open on the wrong option.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause screen flashes in space at low framerates.
  • Fixed a number of issues that prevented pirates from attacking planetary buildings with the correct behaviours.
  • Improved the appearance of freighter fleet warp-ins.
  • Reduced the effectiveness of the Positron Ejector against starship shields.
  • Hauler starships can now upgrade their cargo inventory to a greater capacity than other ships.

Experimental Branch 13/04
  • Fixed an issue that caused pirates to attack planetary buildings too frequently.
  • Fixed an issue that caused smuggling items to sell at an incorrect markup in regulated stations.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause items in the ship cargo inventory to be incorrectly cleaned up when sold.
  • Fixed a crash related to pirate spawning.
  • Fixed a crash related to the player frigate fleet.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Please tend to the blurry texture issues on high/ultra quality that Sentinel update introduced. Yes yes, Im not displeased, love the content you give, but for once, please... before adding more wheels, fix the deflated ones!

EDIT:
Experimental Branch 15/04
Fixed a texture streaming memory leak.
Lads and gents, lets hope this is our solution there.

Thanks, as always.

Repeating what Cross said: "Please tend to the blurry texture issues on high/ultra quality that Sentinel update introduced. Yes yes, Im not displeased, love the content you give, but for once, please... before adding more wheels, fix the deflated ones!"

It seems like the longer a game session lasts... the worse the graphics look.

Keep up the great work guys!

Is FSR/dynamic resolution enabled, Sparxx and Cross? This might explain the blurriness.

Hello! Thanks for the new update! :D
I would like to mention a few that happened:
Since April 11th, solar panels and gas/mineral extractors are not working properly here.
Solar panels "work" at night (in reality they only have the flaps open) and during the day they do not generate energy.
Extractors do not know what they are working on, they lose this information and those that are "active" show that they have reached capacity but the storage is empty.

Adding: the biofuel reactor does not turn on the attached equipment when it is filled with fuel but consumes the loaded value from the inventory.

Great to know. Please ensure to report at their official bug reporting site since they may nor may not look here - https://hellogames.zendesk.com/

Negative, this issue is not connected to FSR feature.

Oh so this is still not fixed?

This issue burned me out hard and I've stopped playing purely because of it. Even lowering the textures didn't stop this on my PC. Unfortunately it's too distracting to me so I'd rather play something else until this is fixed.

I know I'm just whining since this was supposed to be a bug report thread, but since they didn't answer any of my tickets... Yeah.

A shame, I was really enjoying NMS (new player) until Sentinels dropped.

yeah thats gonna be a deal breaker for me. I cant progress in the story because all I can do is fight pirates. In the time it takes to climb a holoterminus i was attacked 3 different times. Game is unplayable for new comers.

Haven't tried experimental yet but I haven't seen any frigates flying through the atmosphere. I played for like 6 hours :-/ I hope it's not a rare thing, I really was looking forward to this since I saw it in the initial 2016 trailer. I'm hoping it's a bug that can be fixed. Overall, this is one of the best recent updates by HG and NMS team! Keep it up! Love the new ships and FINALLY planetary dogfights which have been in the game for a while but were so rare! Funny bc I had two before this update, the last being yesterday and the prior being like 2 years ago lol

Btw, some of the new assets are amazing and would love to see them in build menu specifically the fire barrel on the pirate space station and the option to color the lighted sign also seen in the pirate space station, feels kind of like a no brainer that if they have it in colors that we should have been given the option to use the colors for building but I know that they are working on a lot of stuff. Please HG, give us the option to color the lighted sign, I know those of us who keep trying to create Cyberpunk like cities would appreciate it.

I always say this to everyone here: Did you report the issue on their bug-report page? Have you talked to other players having the same issue and asked them to do the same? Imagine you're in a team with 18 -25 developers or so, maybe 50, you probably have 5 or 7 people checking request on the official support page, right? Now, I'm pretty sure when you fill up a form, those people receive it on a very organized way, this way they can fix it deppending on how bad the issue is for players.

Now, imagine you being on a team of seven people dedicated to bug-report page, and suddenly you have to check hundreds if not thousands of "reports" on every single post on Steam or other forums like Reddit? I'm sure they do look sometimes, but I'm also sure they tend to focus on the web-page form. The more people that goes there and complain about the same issue, the faster they will be able to see the issue and fix it. Like I said, I'm sure they read a coment here and there, but if they don't receive the bugs on the oficial forum to check how bad the thing is (how much it affects players and how many players are affected by it), they will focus on other things. For what you said, I'm pretty sure this is not a very bad issue that makes your play time impossible with the game. So yeah, go on the form and send a report every single hot-fix if necessary, make yourself loud there.
