Hydroponic trays not working
Hello there Pathfinders,

I don't know if I'm the only one getting this bug, I don't even know if it is really a bug, or I'm missing something.

The problem is that once I place an hydroponic tray, there is no way I can interact with it.
It ain't working either on planets or on my freighter.

Am I missing something?

Hi, it´s not bugged. You need to power the building. And then you need to place actually a seed inside the tray! Not press E on it.

you can't interact with them anymore, they need to be placed either in the freighter(in that case you're done,just need to plant) or in cubic/cylindrical room(in that case you need electricity to power them,then plant something).

I placed them on a planet in cubic rooms. I have enough power but nothing works. All components inside the room, for example the storage, works but the hydroponic trays not. Seems to be buggy. Btw, I am playing the experimantel.

Hi, it´s not bugged. You need to power the building. And then you need to place actually a seed inside the tray! Not press E on it.

I know, but the trays have still no power. So I have:
1. Building has power
2. Trays not.

I just was in game and tested it. I have a single tray and two trays next to eachother working perfectly in a square building with power. You don´t need to power the trays, you can´t. Just power the building. Then using building menu z go to farming and find a seed and plop it/them in the trays.

As you can see, it works just fine. There is something you are doing wrong.

ARE YOU SURE, the building has power?

When you say cubic room. what room do you mean? The ones who require power or the ones who don´t. Just making sure. Obviously you place them in a non powered room, such as small building, cubes, they are not going to work at all. You need the 'large' buildings that has a power slot at the corners.

Also btw. if you are playing experimental so you don´t have to go mine tons of minerals constantly. Just use the large dome building. It has 16 trays embedded in it, all you need to do is power it up and pop the seeds in. That´s what the building is for. But the trays work just fine if you plop them in a powered building.

Yw, there are certainly bugs, but this is not one of them fortunately. One of the biggest bugs atm. for progression is that the exovehicle technician is located just outside the space station. So you can´t get in touch with him. He is supposed to be inside it. So there certainly are a lot of bugs :D

Ah, that is the misunderstanding. :) I mean not that kind of room. I used the "small" cubes to build a bigger room. And there, the tray are not working.

AHHH there we have it :D Honest mistake. Yes, that doesn´t work, since those normal buildings can´t be powered without a transformer (which i haven´t unlocked yet but am aware of). So you have to use the buildings that has a 'natural slot' for the wires. Then that powers the building and things you place in it such as trays.

It´s like me desperately trying to pin a moon pool under a building, and then wonder why i can´t get in. Because i am missing to unlock the moonpool floor. HAHA, it´s so much a similar situation.

Seems to be the only solution for the moment. Strange is, the small cubes have on the outside fixed cables and when I connnect power to them, the room lights are switched ON and when the power is gone, they are OFF. So for me it seems to be still a bug. But thank you so far. :):steamhappy:

You have to understand, eventhough you as i aswell, play in experimental mode. That doesn´t mean everything is actually unlocked. But most of the stuff is, as you progress through the game you unlock quite a few other things as i understand. Such as transformer which is what you need if you want a hydroponic tray in a small cube for instance.

Since a small cube building and non large buildings in general, is not powered, it has no connection sockets. And since the tray has no power socket. You need the whole building to be powered or the tray will simply not work. Since it takes power from the entire building. Which is why you need transformer for that! Or the 'large' construction buildings.

For smaller buildings to be powered, you need to unlock that then attach that to building. Same as you at one point unlock moonpool floor via exovehicle technician missions and things like that, and on the anomaly there are also things you can unlock from there etc.

By cube you mean construction -> small -> cube, right?
Turns out that does have a slot, the transformer is for unslotted buildings using general construction items i guess.

I just tested it and it works just fine aswell. So i am not sure what you are doing, but look at the picture, maybe you can figure out the mistake you made. You can clearly see this works quite fine.

If your building doesn´t get power and you have wires attached. The problem is that the wire is not PROPERLY connected to energy devices such as solar panels or batteries or the biofuel reactor em generator or whatever you are using as power source. So check those wire connections. If it is properly connected and your building is not powered. Check if you have overload due to too much power requirements (click e on a battery to see total power available vs consumed), and then you need more solar panels and batteries or whatever.

IF THE BUILDING IS POWERED the wires along the side of it in this case turn blue. Red means no power, blue means powered. Look at your building are the wires ON the building red or blue?

Also there are several actual bugs in construction such as: Health and hazard station do not work. Power doors metal wood or concrete cannot close. They remain open. And even a progress braking one where exosuit technician can´t be hired because he´s partly outside space station partly inside. So you can´t get to him.

But fortunately this 'bug' with the hydroponic tray is not one of those.
