Do i need to start over for No Mans Sky Beyond?
I know that for the NEXT update to work you had to make a new updated save. Is it possible to continue your progress on a previous save with the new features? I sadly can’t find any articles yet on the subject.

theoretically you can but it is kinda bugged out for many players. So starting a new game might prevent some frustration.

I'd recommend saving your current game to a zip file or such. Keep the copy juuuuuust in case. If you have a lot of playtime on that current game and one of the current many bugs takes it out before fixes are released.... yeps, it'd suck. D:

You don't need to, but it's recommended. Alot of features have been completely revamped, and basebuilding is a lot more complex and rewarding. If you have built bases and freighters, I'd start over.

Nope, you can continue your save, but playing from a fresh save will give you a bit of context on the new things introduced in this expansion.

The starter missions are more streamlined; and you get a primer on most of the game mechanics while playing, but be prepared to grind a lot, especially if the planet on which you start, does not have a lot of research data to find (which is something that the tutorial force you to do).

There is no hard reset on the game; I was able to pick up where I left, few months ago.

Thanks for the help, just recently got back into the game so I’ve only sunk in a few hours into a new save. Thanks for the quick answers!

My old save that I had to modify to force completion of a game stage (back when the atlas quest line was borked and it was the only way to get past it) does not seem to have access to the vendors in the Anomaly on the right side, only Nada, Polo and the blueprint vendors. I assume that will eventually get worked out but if you want to avoid all issues then yeah, probably a good idea to restart. But if you've already completed most of the games progression then you probably don't really need those vendors anyway.

There is no way i would start new.

already 120+ hours in my savegame.

You don't need to. I've continued all three of my previous saves. You might run into issues with your base or freighter (I personally had no problems), but that's why I recommend packing your base up before each major update to be safe.

I had about 75 hours into this save, since the last update.
I always started new after the patch and I’ve literally never had a single issue crop up with regards to “patch” issues.
Currently running like a top

Next didn't force a restart -- my main game is the same one I started on day 1 of release. Tho I DID have to eventually relocate, as Atlas terraformed my perfect Paradise planet into an inferno world because they had to tweak the universe generation code... and then Next terraformed it again into a radioactive mushroom... so yeah, I called Galactic UHaul and made a fresh base on a better planet. :P But supposedly, Beyond doesn't touch the generation code, so all should be good :)
