Can I turn activated cadmium into normal cadmium?

Nope. Just toss it in a refiner and hoard that chromatic metal. You'll need to find a different planet with regular cadmium.

so..how am I supposed to get normal cadmium when cadmium planets are at red stars and I need cadmium to craft the hyper drive to go to red stars..

not from scratch. you need a seed amount of regular cadmium.

this is from memory but convert activated cadmium into c.metal. then convert c.metal into cadmium by putting both into the refiner. you might have to do this a few times to get enough seed metals

The Cadmium Hyperdrive doesn't use cadmium. It uses copper and something else I think.

You use that to get to red stars, then use the cadmium to make an emeril drive to get to green stars, then use emeril to make an indium drive to get to blue stars. The Indium drive will let you visit all stars, so you only need it in the end.
