Connect bases power grids?
How do you connect say Base A and Base Bs power grids? I cannot get this to work at all. It shows a blue wire but when i connect it to anything it just stays offline.

I don't think it works. Because..., when I found an electromagnetic power hotspot just outside my base perimeter, I put down another base computer so I could put down an electromagnetic power collector generator. I got all that working but then the wire between bases would not work. If there is a way to do this I would also really like to know.

I did get the generator hooked up, but it required me deleting the secondary base computer and generator, placing a custom waypoint at the hotspot, then going back to my own base perimeter...
You can tell the perimeter because your build menu changes. But I could stand just within my base area and still place a generator almost 100u further, which I did. That actually pushed the base perimeter out so I could walk about 95u beyond the new generator to the new perimeter and place another generator about 95u further out. One more repeat of that process and I had a generator on the power spot that was an extension of my base, a second generator that still made some power, and a third that made nothing. I was able to string wires along the generators (3rd one I replaced with a battery.) Later I found a second electromagnetic power hotspot opposite side of my base and managed to perform the same feat. Not sure if my base perimeter expands in a circular manner or if it just pushes out along the wires to the generator.

This may not help you connect two bases but it is an interesting mechanic, especially if you find a power hotspot nearby.

I tried to conect 2 bases yesterday in creative. And i could connect anything but the power options fine, i just couldn't connect it from base B to Base C, so i reckon it's a bug since i could partially get it to work.

I'll try your thing though. :)

OMG THANK YOU

Mine either, i couldn't figure it out. Bases don't like the power lines going between the two, probably to prevent people from stealing power from someone else's base?

This helped sooo much and allowed me to get power to an S-Class mine base i set up. i was NOT looking forward to calculating how many solar panels and batteries i would need to get all the mines i built to work day and night. :cozybethesda: Thanks

So Found a way to do this after seeing this post, I placed down a walkway of wooden floors and was able to extend base to be 900u wide, placeing one floor extended the size of the base quite alot. Placed the building Comp mid way as well, hope this helps.

(EDIT) relogged and was able to push it out even futher with this method

I was able to get the generator 100u away from the hotspot center and was able to get the same amount of output from the center.

I was able to confirm what @Sven_AU suggested. Props, man!
I deleted my second base, then used small wooden panels to build a walkway to the desired extractor sites. I'm using a single EM power hotspot to power 3 separate gas & mineral extractor clusters. The most distant is currently ~800u away from the EM gens.
So, this pretty much resolves the single-player issue of power availability across hotspots, but admittedly does not resolve sharing power across multiplayer bases.

It might be better to consider each base as separate user.
The same for you. You beed to log into base A to edit, not edit B. Need to log into B to edit that one.

For you to "login" to base will need to load into or warp/tele' to it.
Friends need to actualy Login into base CPU as guest.... (+yer network permissions)

Bases do not share or interconnect. ugh.

So if I'm understanding this right, you can extend your base by putting building structures around the outer parameter?... Which will allow you to extend your power cables.

But you can't connect power from separate bases, I've confirmed this myself. This definitely should be changed being that hotspots are usually more that 500u apart.

That is correct, you can't connect 2 bases power grids together.
And yes, you can extend your base by adding objects here and there until you reach it.
But I think 1k is the max size you can expand.

Seems like the way it is now creates a challenge. I would guess that is intended. You can connect your base to a hotspot if you plan it out correctly.

If you could connect bases together to share power, you could plop your base down anywhere, find the nearest hot spot and create a chain of bases to it. That would be too easy and really look like a mess to any other player that comes across it (although I don't think another player often finds a base not theirs).

Slight wording issue " building structures around the outer " ..not around.
From the edge of base you want to go.. something every 50u, or less. From the 150u radius.
I used 1/2 arch parts to make it look like real street/power lines, kinda.

Doesn't seem to work with metal panels... I can build them as far as I can see and placed a battery about 50u outside the base perimeter. But once I make one step towards the battery, the build menu snaps back to the no-base-required stuff.

If you still want to share power instead of extending a single base you just press the middle mouse button to select what base you are connecting and make sure every single wire you place you press middle mouse button before hand and make sure the correct base is still selected.

Everyone seems to think you cant share power between bases when you can.
Haywire Sep 24, 2019 @ 1:45pm
Middle Mouse Button? Not sure I follow. All that does is switching my secondary weapon.
eram Sep 24, 2019 @ 1:48pm
Whilst in build mode inside your base building area. This is for base building.
You need 2 bases close by and want to share power.
