No GPUs that support vulkan
What do I do? I have a lot of hours logged into No Man's Sky. I stopped playing and now that I return, I get this message.

update your gfx drivers. also what is your gpu?

Nvidia GT530. It's not a good one but I was able to somewhat run No Man's Sky though it would lag sometimes. I was hoping they would optimize their code.

If you have an Nvidia card you may just not have up to date Vulcan drivers. You will probably have to find some and download them to get your GPU to run Vulcan. If you have an AMD card, a simple software update through the AMD shell in Windows should suffice. If you have a GPU that is more than 5 or 6 years old, regardless of manufacturer, you may be out of luck. Vulcan doesn't work on cards that are too far out of date. If you aren't on Windows 10, you may also be screwed. I don't know the compatibility of Vulcan with older versions of Windows.

If you are using an integrated card, Vulcan can supposedly recognize it now, but I'm not sure how all that works. If you are using some sort of 3rd party card, I have no idea what to do with that.

Mac and Linux are beyond my meager knowledge skill. I could roll a natural 20 and still have no idea.

That's all I got. Not an expert, but I know just enough to be dangerous. Hope any of that helped. Good luck.

OP, I really think you should get a new card. It looks like that one is not only eight years old, but was also a low-spec version even when it was new.

I downloaded some drivers from the nvidia page but I got the same message.

What was the purpose of changing to Vulcan? It broke the game for me.

Not sure if it'll help, but could always download and install the vulkan runtime: https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home#windows

Hopefully that helps at least get the game running for you
lwpuma20 Aug 16, 2019 @ 10:02pm
but is the game using 1.0 vulkcan or 1.1 ?
Apollyon Aug 16, 2019 @ 10:04pm
The purpose was for VR. Vulkan has better suppor for VR. On top of that, it's more low-level than OpenGL and is faster. Increases performance closer to that of DirectX, and supports changing video settings on the fly like DX. Vulkan is also heavily used with Steam and it's Proton tools port of wine. Makes the game run way better through wine on Linux
Apollyon Aug 16, 2019 @ 10:05pm
1.1 i would imagine. Installing the latest runtime would be best anyways for other games that use vulkan.

guys that have old gpu should know that your gonna run into problems in the future and that future is now. a 1060 3gb can run it just not at 60fps all the time
Commissar [GSF] Aug 16, 2019 @ 10:12pm
your gpu is nearly 10 years old, and a very low-end model at that. it's lower than minimum specs. it's never going to work.
Icy1007 Aug 16, 2019 @ 10:13pm
You will need a new GPU to continue playing No Man's Sky. The 600 series is the lowest Nvidia GPU series to support Vulkan. The GT530 is not supported.

Vulkan allows them to optimize the game much more than OpenGL allowed. Vulkan is the only graphics API supported by No Man's Sky on PC now.

A GT530 card is what would be called an " Old Dinosaur". That card is way too Old !!
