Is this game enjoyable on Single Player mode? 2019

I met NoMan's Sky for the first time ages ago, when it was still in EarlyAccess. I wasn't ready to be interested in this game at the time, because I devoted all my play time to other type of games. Later, when it came out of the EarlyAccess phase, I heard many mixed opinions about this game. I knew that with such a large community it could not be otherwise. You can't please everyone. But it still didn't encourage me to play.

Now Steam or Facebook have notified me that it's worth taking a look at this game again.
Is this game enjoyable on Single Player mode? Is the single player mode interesting? Can I trade with the NPC or any interplayer exchange store? Can I fight some type of enemies? Mobs? Pirates? Do I have to worry about something?
Or is it just simply sim on SinglePlayer?

I am a fan of sandbox games. I can set goals for myself. So the lack of a story line will not be a problem.

It is for me. No one would find me anyway, so if I don't go looking, it's always single player. But I have it turned off. You can trade with NPC's and fight sentinels or NPC's in ships. You have to worry about staying alive.

If you like wandering the stars, enjoying the view and having the occasional spoopy moment, with a few storylines and some base building mixed in when you feel like it, then this is for you.

If you want tight flight controls and engaging PvP, then this is not for you.

The ship handles like a drunken brick, space combat is finnicky at best and the UI can be irritating, but oh my Goodness the worlds look gorgeous.

It´s a total sandbox.... modify terrain, exploration, crafting, building, scouting, farming, trading :-)

I for example are totally into Sandbox, especially as singleplayer... and i love this game since i´m free to do whatever i want. Right now i´m running traderoutes for high income and building a base inbetween and try to figure out some switch-logic with the new electricity :)

I have been playing this game since May 2018. All I ever do is single player. Yeah. It's good.

Multiplayer doesn't really add anything except playing with friends. It is the same in every other way. Rather than a different mode, it is more of just an addition if you know and want to play with someone else who owns the game.

It is for me and I've logged 1245 hours in-game (all in single player) since the very beginning. I'm not having any major issues with the Beyond update and I'm really enyoying the game even more now, even with the few issues that have cropped up for me.

Your mileage may vary, of course.
