Why the inverter?
The proximity sensor powers the door when it detects someone nearby and cuts power when there's nobody around.
The power inverter, combined with the proximity sensor, cuts off power to the door when someone is nearby (thereby opening the door), and provides power when there's nobody around (so it closes).
